He's blocked a the bill to prevent FGM this time. Last time it was the upskirting bill. He's probably loving all the attention he's now getting but I am so angry about this and wonder if he really is the worst MP at this time.

I'd love to know if anyone's voted for him? And if so, why?

I agree Tiscold, who could possibly be against a law which protects against FGM?!

very few mps turn up to the debates and votes

It's possible he's right about it being a problem (although surely if it were an important or controversial bill, MPs would turn up to it).

But his behaviour isn't exactly a solution, is it?

PerkingFaintly · 24/11/2018 12:31

I hadn't realised that not long after sinking the "upskirting" bill, he also tried to sink one allowing an international conference of women MPs to use the Commons chamber on a day when the Commons wasn't sitting.

Tory MP who blocked upskirting bill objects to women's conference

After the govt made it clear the bill would be submitted by another route, he made it about an amendment so only parliamentarians could use the chamber. But, you know, if he were genuine, he could have asked for that amendment before the original motion was submitted.

I'm delighted to say the women MPs did indeed get to use the chamber.

He has put forward 31 PMBs of his own

PerkingFaintly · 24/11/2018 13:51

Mm-hm. What a surprise.

Tiscold · 24/11/2018 13:55

I agree with his view in principle that not having many mps there is wrong but agree with you all that blocking vital bills isnt a good idea.

Maybe he should put forward a pmb that votes are held only once a month and mps must attend Grin

SkySmiler · 24/11/2018 17:19

Really Suffolk?! A hypocritical arsehole too then!

WillowintheUK · 24/11/2018 17:45

To the pp who wasn't sure what his two children were - Wikipedia says he has a daughter born 1990 and a son, 1992. Imagine having him as your father!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/11/2018 17:48

That was me thanks, Willow.

Kewqueue · 24/11/2018 17:48

As someone who has canvassed before general elections, I can tell you that a LOT of people have absolutely no interest in what their MP stands for, votes for or believes in!

Cottonflowers · 24/11/2018 18:02

That is so depressing, Kewqueue Sad

I'm so enraged that he has actually put forward his own PMBs!! Angry such awfulness
