To cancel cousin

I have a newborn who is just 2 weeks old. Cousin just messaged to let us know she has a horrid cold but thinks it will be fine and wants to see us. We were supposed to be visiting her today. AIBU to cancel? She is going away for Christmas so wouldn't see her until end of Jan but am so scared of baby getting sick so feel really torn. What do other parents do?

Your health comes first now your baby doesn't need a cold and neither do you people are usually understanding and if not that really is their problem

Ngaio2 · 24/11/2018 12:14

OP could you Skype your cousin to give her to introduce baby to her in real time ?

personally I would say something has come up and you can't now make it - if she pushes tell her its the D&V virus

No I wouldn't lie RB68 Hmm
Colds in tiny babies are grim. The truth is fine.

Cancel. Fuck that

Norma27 · 24/11/2018 13:10

Tell her no. My children have become aunties this week. My little one has a raging temp so have said no visiting of baby yet as can’t risk making baby and mum poorly.

No way! Cancel cancel cancel! Reschedule for another time. Your baby isn't going to turn into an adult in January so I'm sure it won't hurt them to wait a couple of months.
