I mean running away, starting again somewhere where nobody knows you? Killing off the old you and giving birth to a new you? Has anyone ever thought about it?

I did after my DD was born, I was convinced her and my DH would be better off without me, one night I actually wrote a letter, got dressed and went to the front door, I just couldn't do it. On another occasion, I got in my car and got as far as my local park, the thought of never seeing them again made me go back.

I fantasied about running away a long time ago when I felt really trapped in a relationship and job. I ended the relationship and changed jobs and I have never felt like that since. I love my life now.

Is your husband his dad? And how old is he?

thighofrelief · 23/11/2018 22:32

One of my adult kids is like yours OP. He drives me to the brink of despair. I keep a lot of baby photos of him prominently displayed to remember that i love some part of him still. I also forced him to move out, i felt like killing myself to get away from his constant needs.

How old is he? If he is 16 or 17 SS are legally obliged to house him, you can still love and support him living somewhere else. If you wait till he's 18 it'll be a lot harder.

Unfortunately there aren’t enough rabbits and fish left to survive on...Grin
