Ladies & gentlemen, may I present...

Very poor taste. He's having a shower - what else should he be wearing?

But I'm one of those po faced, humourless (Hmm) individuals who can't stand this kind of finger pointing and sniggering about anyone's bodies, be they male or female.

KennDodd · 23/11/2018 08:58

For the offended, I very much doubt men would be leaching over a women his age, who looks like their age, as he does, in a shower. She'd be 20 something and model fit.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 23/11/2018 09:03

WhatdoImean illustrates the example beautifully there, ken.

That said, this isn’t a great thread. Half perving, half mocking. I’m no NK fan but I don’t think it paints MN in the best light.

Charley50 · 23/11/2018 09:06

I thought that pic might be in the Metro this morning, seeing as they often have shots of the female contestants in the shower, and frequent crotch shots of female slebs. But, nope!

SillySallySingsSongs · 23/11/2018 09:11

I spent a day on a course with him a few years ago. He loved the sound of his own voice and was really belligerent and argumentative and not at all friendly.

I've met him a number of times. Always been fine and friendly? 🤷🏼‍♀️

QueenofmyPrinces · 23/11/2018 09:21

Men enjoy looking at attentive women in bikinis and women enjoy looking at attractive men in trunks. I really don’t see what the big deal is...

I know I love having a good stare at good looking men and making perhaps sexual comments to my friends about him but that’s just human nature isn’t it?!

Men may letch over that imagine of the girl in the white bikini having a shower (I don’t know who she is) but I’m just as likely to letch over an attractive man in a similar image - not NK though Grin

My sister loves NK - I might screenshot the image and send it to her Grin

Exclusive to women and gay men:

Openly leering at and objectifying men on TV, and these stories plastered all over newspapers and magazines , eg : Aidan Turner in Poldark and Tom Hardy in anything.

Going in groups to see films like Magic Mike

Going to the theatre to openly ogle men in the Full Monty. My theatre had a huge picture of Gary Lucy in small red budgie smugglers advertising it.

Strictly Come Dancing : all panel members & presenters openly objectifying , leering and making very thin innuendos every time a male dancer wiggles his bum or shows his chest.

There is no heterosexual male behaviour that is equivalent.

And then you get threads like this on mumsnet. I can only imagine what the opinion of mumsnet would be to threads objectify women on men dominated forums.

You can sneer at PC correctness all you want, but in the media it's just a bit of cheeky fun to objectify men, but a dangerous sex crime to objectify women.

Absolutely the above, no one is even leering about it but openly taking the piss out of him, a thread with one of the older women showering with this piss taking would be removed I expect. Very unpleasant! Sad

BlancheM · 23/11/2018 09:42

Oh give over, men are never ever objectified the same way as women are. There's no comparison. It's institutional with women. It's woven into society. Whole industries exist to make money off of exploiting and objectifying women. Every hour of every day there is a man somewhere saying, 'smile, darlin'!' because women are decorative objects there to please their eyes and egos.
Then there's this pic of Nick bloody Knowles and the bleeding hearts are out!

VerbeenaBeeks · 23/11/2018 09:48

So because men don't get it "woven into society" it's alright to have a letch thread on blokes but not women?
I'm up for a bit of bloke eyeing up, not offended but in the same vein they should get the chance to admire Myleene looking good.
Not this " one rule for us, another for you" crap.
As someone upthread said - human nature to look. For both males and females.

Maybe historically they haven't been, but now men ARE objectified more in the media than women.

Can you imagine a male equivalent to loose women, where women are invited on purely because of they way they look and are hooted over by the panel?

It's open season on men in the media now, and sadly it diminishes any argument that women are still exclusive being exploited by men.

The bleeding hearts comment, well if seeing the big picture here is being a bleeding heart, then so be it.

VerbeenaBeeks · 23/11/2018 09:50

What bomb just said.

BlancheM · 23/11/2018 09:57

Trust me I do not want to letch or fawn over Nick Knowles but you can't compare.
My opinion on loose women is that is outdated and as harmful to women if not more, than it is to men. And anyway the male guests know what they're signing up for when they get paid to go on there- an ego boost as well as the pay check. I'm not crying my eyes out for them.

WorraLiberty · 23/11/2018 10:01

I think he looks lovely although not keen on the red trunks.

I can't believe he's 56. He looks a lot younger to me Shock

VerbeenaBeeks · 23/11/2018 10:15

"Male guests know what they're signing up to, plus pay cheque" - just - as I said, MN laughable double standards!

derxa · 23/11/2018 10:40

NK has something about him and I feel a bit Blush about it.

SylviaAndSidney · 23/11/2018 10:41

Came on to write the exact same derxa.

Double BlushBlush

SillySallySingsSongs · 23/11/2018 10:47

Women don't know what they are doing when they go on certain shows?

Women also do it for an ego boost and the paycheck.

IsSheWeird · 23/11/2018 10:51

Bombbiggleton think we are living in different realities. Men often go in groups to lapdancing clubs/sex shows. When porn theatres were common can't imagine many women were regulars. Noone even objected to the pic of the woman having a shower anyway.

VerbeenaBeeks · 23/11/2018 10:57

Noone objected to the pic of the woman? You sure, as I'm sure it was on here where people objecting to Myleene in her bikini when it happened.
Definitely was slapping down anyone saying "I would", not that they'd have dared to air an outright comment like that upthread in the first place unless feeling incredibly brave lol

Again, no it's not double standards (I'm one person btw, not the whole of MN).
And no it's not comparable.
Because, again, it's not an equal playing field to begin with.

Strugglingtodomybest · 23/11/2018 12:50

56? He's looking good for his age imo.

SoupDragon · 23/11/2018 12:53

Objectifying men?

This thread wasn't started to objectify him, it was to take the piss.

DeezMutts · 23/11/2018 14:14

He looks alright to me. I bloody would Blush
