To ask you to tell me I’ve not had a stroke?!

This is going to sound really odd but I really need to ‘get it out’.

You know when you have a dream that you’re awake but you’re not but the next morning you can’t really tell if it happened or you dreamt it?!

Well last night I dreamt I woke up in the early hours and the left side of my face was completely numb. I dreamt I sat up and rubbed my face and decided I’d been lying funny on it. I was about to lie back down when I went completely dizzy and tried to shout for my husband (who in my dream was downstairs but was actually in bed next to me) but I then passed out.

I woke up this morning and thought what a strange dream and put it out of my mind.

This evening I convinced that the left side of my face is a bit numb. I keep pinching both sides of my face to see if the left side is numb.
It feels a bit odd I’m sure but I couldn’t say it is numb.
I have now googled it and convinced myself I had a stroke in my sleep!
I have no other symptoms at all (I did wake up groggy but I had rather a bit to drink last night!)
I have no reason to believe I’m at risk of having a stroke. I’m 39. I did have a leg operation 2 weeks ago though.

I’m going on holiday tomorrow otherwise I’d maybe pop to the GP if the face feeling was still there in the morning.

It’s just my mind playing tricks on me isn’t it?

I think it is just that. Sounds like an intense dream. Try to relax.

An odd fact that I rarely tell people (because it sounds really weird) is that I'm usually paraplegic in my dreams. Sometimes when I wake up it's confusing to find my legs working properly again.

It doesn't sound like you had a stroke to me, just a very convincing dream.

I once thought I had facial paralysis in my sleep. And was so hazy about it (being asleep) that I never thought to mention it to anyone, though I do occasionally remember it and think ‘what was that’. I assume it was something to do with being asleep, but not quite being asleep, but I have never been sure either. I was fine in the morning!

That’s interesting holasoydora. Aren’t brains / bodies weird?

A stroke sounds unlikely from what you say. But you should always see a doctor if you're concerned - no one can diagnose you on the internet.
