How to bleed a sodding radiator.... I’m 32, I have no idea how to bleed a radiator, everyday my pipes are making a terrible racket and I don’t know where to start... why doesn’t anyone tell us about these things before we have to actually ‘adult’ and at what point are we suppose to suddenly know how to do these ‘adult’ activities?!

Please tell me I’m not the only one ‘pretending’ to adult here? There must be things you wish someone had told you about before you actually had to fend for yourself and fake adulting Grin

My Mum taught me to hang wallpaper when I was 15 and I bought wallpaper with money I earned from my Saturday job. She also taught me how to wire a plug, change a fuse etc

My Dad was the cook in our house but passed on no skills whatsoever, would not allow anyone in the kitchen. My older sister taught me basic skills as she became vegetarian and my Dad refused to cook more than 1 meal - and yes I know how easy it is to adapt a meal to be veggie.

Dh was taught nothing by his parents. So over 20+ years we have learned together. Now we can install bathrooms, tile, do electrical work, woodwork etc

My own children have been taught to put flatpack furniture together, cook, work a washing machine, clean a toilet, clean the trap in the dishwasher, clean both traps in the tumble dryer, peg out washing, hoover, entertain a toddler visitor, change lightbulbs, navigate a loft carefully and fill the screen wash in the car. But not bleed a radiator, so I'll teach them that too, or Dh will, he also loves bleeding radiators. Maybe it's the hissing noise Grin

OP - are you sure that isn’t your oil tank in the garden ? The boiler is usually inside a building.

You must know where your oil is delivered to! Is it gas oil or kerosene ?
