Worried about my DS’s teeth - AIBU?

DS has just turned 1 and be only has his two bottom teeth. They came through about 2 months ago.

The two teeth touch one another and I’ve noticed an off white deposit where the two teeth meet at the bottom. At first I thought it was a bit of chicken or toast but I can’t get it out for love nor money. It seems stuck on. I’ve tried gently scraping it off but to no avail. I brush his teeth twice a day, he has no sweets, chocolate or juice. I only give 2 portions of fruit a day. Only drinks water. The rest of his diet is balanced, he is a good eater. Has had a lot of Calpol recently due to chicken pox and teething.

He has a dentist appointment booked for 10th Jan. AIBU to be worried he has plaque already? Is this normal? WWYD?

Could u try and take a photo and send t to the dentist?

Sounds like plaque, it can quickly build up in places hard to brush, such as between teeth that are squashed together.

Thank you for replying! I’ll be honest the whole issue is keeping me awake at night, ridiculous I know but I dread him having teeth decay at such a young age.

I’ve managed to scrape some of it off with a water wipe and my finger nail, and left a message with the dentist that I need an appointment sooner.

would it be harmful to rub a small amount of toothpaste on the bits the brush can’t reach to avoid plaque build up?

My son has exactly this problem. The dentist cleans it off every 12 weeks to stay on top of it. She says it’s probably a pH problem with his saliva, and that she can see we take very good care of his teeth.

@MoonlightMedicine that’s really interesting, thanks for sharing. I will ask the dentist about that.

Still waiting for a call back but will definitely push for an urgent appointment.
