In a thank you card for an outfit sent to DS is it rude to write "it won't be long until he grows into it"? Does it sound like they're being told off for getting the wrong size? Should I just leave that out (find it hard to know what to write, especially when I don't know the people

sounds fine. i do it all the time.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 21/06/2007 11:43

I would just say thank you very much for the lovely outfit if its the right size or not

WaynettaSlob · 21/06/2007 11:43

I know what you mean - I tend to put something like "it will be great for the summer / winter" (delete as appropriate) or "he will look really cute in it" or something like that.

DeviousDaffodil · 21/06/2007 11:44

I would thanks he wil look lovley in it..

Katy44 · 21/06/2007 11:47

littlesoldiersmummy - I am actually glad it is too big as we have loads of stuff for his current size and not much for the next one up (he's only 7 weeks so growing out of stuff every other day).
But, think I'll leave it out, especially as I don't know them. Thanks everyone

And thank you for your congratulations
He's having a really good day - bright and alert but plenty of naps in betwee, so I'm catching up with jobs like thank you cards

Not rude, IMO. I would presume that they have bought a larger size deliberately, as they know that you will have been inundated with newborn clothes.

I'd say something like "I'm so glad that you sent a larger size as he has so much stuff in his current size. It will fit him really soon and he will look lovely in it". That way they can't misread it and think they're being told off!

Katy44 · 21/06/2007 12:13

Oops - too late, but I'll remember that for next time, sounds better than my wording!
Yes, that's what I thought, I always try to buy for a few months in the future (although I've just realised I don't always take seasons into account!). You'd have to be pretty stupid to think "This outfit is too big for my newborn so it's no good", wouldn't you
