AIBU to think there is not an NHS funding crisis when they can afford this?

Just that really. If the NHS can afford to fund this type of surgery, why can they not reduce waiting times? Skewed priorities come to mind:

Because to reduce waiting times for surgeries you would need to hire a greater number of clinical staff, build more theatres, train more doctors, hire more administrative staff, build more hospital wards, fund social care to move people out of hospital and into appropriate community settings... it would cost a hell of a lot more than £20,000. Regardless of your thoughts about trans rights or this particular case, you cannot use this as an example of the NHS having money to burn.
