kateandme · 20/11/2018 04:02

because of her autism.my cousin says her son cant do enclosed spaces.he also suffers with it.coud this be the reason she isn't doing the challenge.
and she went on to say she shouldn't be on the show because many other enclosed or space invading tasks would be happeing throughout the time in the jungle.
is she be ur to say this.i didn't no how to reply as I then thinks it very brave of anne to do this.but if they don't let her do the challnages or she get into trauma I also don't want this for her.

This gives them an unfair advantage

Anyone can say no, or give a half hearted attempt at a trial. Depends what you mean by advantage, the public is unlikely to vote for contestants that don't push themselves to face their fears or haven't entertained them, so they will be at a disadvantage overall.

Anne is up for tonights trial. Not sure what way it will go, she'll either be a star and get on with it, or it will be uncomfortable watching.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/11/2018 15:54

But... wait... the show's producers KNOW ALL OF THAT BEFORE THEY INVITE people on!

This post, this is what they aimed for, and they will get lots of them!

I don't watch it, but those who will will learn about ASD, or not, as they choose!

But don't blame the individual for accepting an invitation from the people who control the bloody challenges!

ladydickisathingapparently · 20/11/2018 15:56

Also, what if a participant had a physical disability, say they were an amputee, and it was physically impossible for them to participate in a task? Would anyone want them excluded from even going into the jungle? Surely not. We want a cross section of ages, physical ability etc. It’s not The Hunger Games.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 20/11/2018 15:58

I don't think it was because of her autism. The challenge was done in a confined space. I doubt she could have physically fitted through the tunnels.

Atchiclees · 20/11/2018 16:04

I really like her. I like The Governess character and the warm, funny lady she comes across as when she has been on other shows. I’m glad she is an example of someone with Aspergers who is successful in life.

sunglasses123 · 20/11/2018 16:16

If everyone excludes themselves for all sorts of worthy reasons there will be no one to do the trials or worse the same very small group of people being chosen whilst the others sit back and watch

NKFell · 20/11/2018 16:18

Oooh I like Anne and she has every right to be there.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 20/11/2018 16:22

She wouldn't have fitted in the tunnels I wouldn't either ... they were being kind by saying it was for medical reasons 👍🏻

Sirzy · 20/11/2018 16:23

I don't watch it, but those who will will learn about ASD, or not, as they choose!

Or to be more precise they will learn about how one person with autism is impacted by her autism.

I am slightly concerned that on the whole there are a lot of generalisations coming out about autism in the media forgetting that it is such a wide spectrum!

I like her and good luck to her but I hope what she is hoping to achieve doesn’t end up having the opposite effect

HollySwift · 20/11/2018 16:24

Aren’t you slightly missing the point of the show? It’s called “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” because ANY contestant can say that at ANY time to get out of a challenge. Being medically ruled out for any reason is not an advantage, don’t you think those people would rather be fit & healthy enough to be included?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/11/2018 16:28

Or to be more precise they will learn about how one person with autism is impacted by her autism. Yes! And any fact they learn about anyone with ASD will be a fact they have learned! How odd to berate me for that.

I can understand your concern but whatever people see Ann H do or not do, whether down to her ASD or not, will be balanced by her persona as The Governess. So of course there will be some who learn something that is a generalisation others will be learning about it for the first time, others will see a lot more in how she is than many others.

Mainly because people come in such a wide spectrum!

itswinetime · 20/11/2018 16:32

But she is doing challenges she’s did the car and the swimming to get into camp and she’s doing tonight’s one! Every year people are ruled out for various reasons we have no idea why she was or if she will be again it’s been 2 days I think we could give it a bit longer before we start complaining

hazeyjane · 20/11/2018 16:37

A vegan shouldn't be in this programme. The eating trials are stomach turning and to wriggle out of them for vegan reasons means that they don't have to do what is potentially the hardest part of the game

I don't know, vegans eat tofu, possibly the foulest foodstuff ever, they should probably get bonus points for that alone.

newtothisriver · 20/11/2018 16:57

Did they say she was exempt from that trial because of autism??

Wolfiefan · 20/11/2018 17:23

I’m just watching the second episode. I really like her. I’ve only ever seen her as the character on The Chase (hope that’s the right show.)
I love tofu too.
I don’t think she will teach me about autism. But I look forward to seeing more of her. (I recognise very few of them. Not a fan of soaps!)

hazeyjane · 20/11/2018 19:26

I love tofu too

RightOnTheEdge · 20/11/2018 19:33

Did they say she was ruled out because of her Aspergers or the confined spaces?
I don't think they did.

Anne looked surprised when they said she was ruled out. There are celebs every year who are ruled out of certain tasks on medical grounds. I don't think it's just special treatment for her.

VerbeenaBeeks · 20/11/2018 19:36

Eh? She's doing tonight's trial, isn't she?
People are ruled out on medical grounds for specific reasons on certain challenges all the time.
Oh, and leave her alone, she's doing brilliantly in there.

ajandjjmum · 20/11/2018 19:41

I think this series has the makings of a really good one - some celebs who I know for a change! Hope Ann does well.

Wolfiefan · 20/11/2018 20:35

Sorry hazey. Are you back with us yet? Cooked properly (not by me!) it’s bloody divine.

Maxibilli · 20/11/2018 20:47

I'm not watching, has she said she doesn't like or can't cope with enclosed spaces? I have asd and I really quite like small spaces, makes me feel a bit calmer!
If you cousin is jumping to that conclusion I think she's bu as not all people with autism have thr same triggers. She might do fine on the show!

hazeyjane · 20/11/2018 20:53

Just starting come round, thanks Wolfie....
I used to work in a veggie/vegan cafe and have had tofu cooked many ways. There is something about it, maybe the texture...I don't know. For me it's just the devil's gelatinous jizz, but that is just me.

Wolfiefan · 20/11/2018 20:56

Diamondsandstones · 20/11/2018 20:57

People are ruled out of trials on these shows for all kinds of reasons. Celebrity Big Brother was always the same.
As long as she does the tasks she can do good on her.
I had no idea she had autism tbh

newtothisriver · 20/11/2018 21:24

It's really bad of OP to say she was ruled out because of Autism if she wasn't.

OP you should have your thread taken down.
