'Cuddle & kind' Cynical marketing ploy or charitable act?

Firstly, I think these products are beautiful. My DC are too old but they are gorgeous and I cannot fault the design.
However... AIBU to feel a bit about their marketing?

In summary, every cuddle & kind toy sold (for £46 or £64 depending on size), the company gives 10 meals to a child in need. This donation is heavily marketed.

For example, they work with WFP who (on their own websites) state that $15 supplies 1 month supply of food to a hungry child.

So, I've been trying to work out what 10 meals donation is in £....

Take a 30 day month.
3 meals a day = 90 meals
$15 is around £11.67
So....

£11.67 divided by 90 (meals) = 0.129

0.129 x 10 (meals) = £1.29

Does this mean that for every £64 or £46 toy, Cuddle and kind donate £1.29?

AIBU to think that for such a small charitable donation Cuddle & Kind are taking the p**s marketing their business as charitable OR should I just be thankful that some extra money goes to worthy causes?

I had wondered this too. The toys are beautiful though...

They are v expensive. Do the people who knit them get a fair wage?

BeautifulBlue · 19/11/2018 21:42

They’re cute toys. But if your calculations are right that’s not very cuddly or kind & a bit of a piss take really.

Valasca · 19/11/2018 21:44

They’re Peruvian artisans who lovingly hand make the toys. Because all other toys made in China are made by robots. Hmm

Heirlooms my fucking arse. It’s not a Rolex, though for the price of a soft toy...

They have a FAQ page and they explain on there how it works.

They provide food for three orphanages, so 150 meals a day there.

Then, as well they give via other organisations.

The ethical/fair wage policies are on there as well.

Birds I've just been looking at that! I'm wondering what % of each sale is donated.
By saying X number of meals are provided, their actual charitable donation, in £££, per purchase is quite vague.
