A group of 4 lads has just got on my train. In the last 5 minutes they have:

  • sprayed asphyxiating quantities of foul-smelling cologne all over themselves, allegedly to mask the smell of cigarettes (it’s not working)
  • played music (track changing every 15 seconds) through their phone speakers
  • spilled crisps all over the floor
  • kicked over someone’s case while joshing about at the luggage rack
  • narrated everything they’re doing at full volume
  • put their bags and feet on seats even though it’s busy

These aren’t kids - they’re clearly mid - late 20s! How is it possible for them to not realise or care how obnoxious they are being?

don't get me started - years of commuting ...argh.

Blanchedupetitpois · 19/11/2018 17:54

It’s the worst, isn’t it? I never hate people more than when I am sharing transport with them

I find that these days people lack social skills and basic manners in a variety of situations. It's really depressing.

JacquesHammer · 19/11/2018 18:00

The number of people who lack awareness of others is staggering.

Sometimes I need to eat on a train. I always ensure my food isn’t strong smelling and won’t make a mess!

BumsexAtTheBingo · 19/11/2018 18:00

I thought you were going to say they were high school kids but that is awful behaviour from men who could have high school children themselves!

Blanchedupetitpois · 19/11/2018 18:02

I know! You expect kids to be a bit twattish in groups but adult men should know better! The lack of consideration is staggering!

i hate public transport, feel very on edge whenever im on the bus!

Blanchedupetitpois · 19/11/2018 18:03

Don’t blame you at all, you never know when an arsehole will strike Angry

I thought you'd say they were teenagers. Commuting makes me wonder daily how people are so unknowingly obnoxious. Consideration for others is a thing of the past.

YouBetterWORK · 19/11/2018 18:37

If I eat crisps on the train (hardly ever, cause they make a noise) I'm so aware of other people I will basically slow eat or suck them till soft because I don't want to be the crisp chomping wanker on the train pissing people off. Then you have people like the OP describes.

WTF has happened to considering others, public etiquette or just basic manners will do. It seems to me to be an era of entitlement nowadays, people going "I will do and say and act whatever or however I want and if people don't like it they can fuck off". Angry

And no one says anything because they turn on you, and everyone else keeps their mouths shut and look down as they don't want to get involved or are afraid of what might happen to them if they do Sad

SnuggyBuggy · 19/11/2018 18:38

People playing things out loud on public transport really brings out my angry granny persona

ForalltheSaints · 19/11/2018 18:40

The behaviour or smell of others is one of the main obstacles to increased public transport use, certainly in larger towns and cities.

BackforGood · 19/11/2018 18:43

Some people have very little awareness of others, and how their actions impact upon other, wherever they are - it isn't confined to public transport.

LagerthaTheShieldMaiden · 19/11/2018 18:43

YANBU OP. I dread my train being cancelled of a morning, as then I've got to catch the bus and I'm ready to throw myself through a window halfway into the journey Angry

People are just horrible.
