AIBU to be jealous of my dog?

DH and I have had our puppy for 3 weeks now. I absolutely love pup to bits, but I'm a bit sad that stuff such as medical care, relaxation spa's and behavioural support are so available to my dog, whilst I have been on a waiting list for counseling and a diagnosis for months :(. I can call my vet and get an appointment for puppy within the hour, but I have to wait days and argue with my GP about whether my suicidal thoughts are 'real' and I need to see a specialist?

AIBU to be jealous (envious technically) that my dog's healthcare and wellbeing support is way better than what's available to me both by the NHS and privately?

So true, our vet is so available and his health plan plus insurance (£35/month) is not that expensive - would be willing to pay that for care for me!

That said, there's a cap on fees that they will pay £10k per condition on mine, and a simple human operation costs that and more!

Thats because dog has you to care for her/him.
In my area, southwest, theres MH organisation Outlook sw which takes you on and offers relevant treatment very quickly. There are similar in other areas, i dont know what there are in your area but can you please google mental health help 'your area' ? Or mental health charites in your area

Can you not get private support quickly? I’ve always managed to get specialist appointments within a week for various conditions for myself and my family

If you are having suicidal thoughts they should put you through to their crisis team.
I had a breakdown a few years ago and couldnt see any way out, felt suicidal and outlook sw assessed me by phone the next day and had me in for therapy that week

Honestly the organisations are out there if you cant find them on google try calling citezens advice

Yanbu. I'm also envious of the fact that once my dogs are old and not coping well with life, they'll get put to sleep with a painless injection whilst being cuddled by people who love them, rather than lying around in their own excrement wondering who everyone is.

I have often said similar about our cats.

I've tried private. I'm in the North and so far haven't found anything that fits my needs. It's all '6 week half an hour coping with stress' stuff, which I keep getting fobbed off with (even for that there is a 4 month waiting list). GP gave me some pills and won't refer me for a private assessment. Went to A&E and got sent home with the message that my feelings were just being caused by the pills and would go away. Sigh.. puppy meanwhile can have all manner of specialist referrals, calming hormones, massage therapies (not that he needs any of this, he's in perfect health Grin).
