Which would you recommend?! I'm having a nightmare...

Yep. Willy down is key. I didn't know this when I had my first DS and couldn't understand why he was always wet.

MRex · 18/11/2018 18:25

Asda has worked well for us, Aldi in the early stages. Make sure the ruff around his legs is poking out and that it's tight on his tummy, no more than 2 fingers fitting in, cross the tabs as much as you need to. Move up a nappy size only when it's too full.

BlueRobyn · 18/11/2018 18:27

Ok so:

Tight
Willy down
Frills out

Gotcha 👍🏽

Yeh no one ever told me about willy down and no one ever told me about little boys pissing all over you when you change their happy. Learned that the hard way!Confused

CrazyOldBagLady · 18/11/2018 18:28

We found them all pretty much the same. Sorry, not much help. We’ve never had many issues with leaks though, are you making sure the frilly bits round the leg holes are on the outside and you have the correct size nappy?

BlueRobyn · 18/11/2018 18:28

@Poodles1980 our DS peed up in the air and on to his own face the other day. It was very funny, bless his cottons!

I have tried most supermarket own brands, plus pampers, and found Sainsbury to be best for my 2 boys.

Annajohnsdottir · 18/11/2018 18:30

A friend told me to 'point it down' when my son was 6 weeks old as I was moaning that he always leaked. I had no idea! Why does no one tell you before?! Should be rule number 1 with a boy 🤗

I tell all my pregnant friends now because they need to know 😂

DickVanTyke · 18/11/2018 18:40

Sorry to hijack, but should the frilly bits be outside for girls too?

Kpo58 · 18/11/2018 18:42

Also you know if a nappy is too tight if you cannot put a couple of fingers down the waistband.

Have you made sure that there is an inch gap between the bodysuit/babygrow and the baby's bum? Nappies need space to expand when. They are piddled in or it can cause leakage.

Kpo58 · 18/11/2018 18:49

Forgot to say, have a gap between the bottom of the nappy and the bum as well so there is space for the nappy to expand and to help stop all of the poo from being smeared all over his bum when he goes.

TimeToRevolutionize · 18/11/2018 18:54

Aldi

TimeToRevolutionize · 18/11/2018 18:55

If he leaks then up the nappy size. Morrison's are quite good as well

Kpo58 · 18/11/2018 18:57

Yes as it's what creates the seal to stop the nappy from leaking from around the legs.

BlueRobyn · 18/11/2018 18:58

@TimeToRevolutionize but he's tiny! 😩 size 2 would surely be too big?

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 18/11/2018 19:03

We found Asda nappies best for DS.

strawberrypenguin · 18/11/2018 19:03

Tesco own worked well for my DS1 (skinny and long) Pampers work best for DS2 (more stocky)

strawberrypenguin · 18/11/2018 19:05

Oh and make sure you point his penis 'down' in the nappy! They will pee out of them if pointing up or sideways!

ThatOneHurt · 18/11/2018 19:07

The first port of call is usually fittings (you've tried that) and size.

When nappies start leaking for us it usually means I need to go up a size.

But at 6lb, for sure you need to stay in the first size.

I think it might be the fitting, see how it goesz

kenandbarbie · 18/11/2018 19:11

Are you tucking his Willy down? If you leave it pointing upwards wee comes out of the top of the nappy. When you put it on make sure it's pointing downwards.

Bababoo13 · 18/11/2018 19:12

Ds leaked alotmore when he was a newborn compared with dd. I wouldn’t size up I found him to leak more. We used tiny baby first but both dd 4 lb 15oz and ds 6lb 7oz were not the biggest babies in the world.

EdithBouvier · 18/11/2018 19:18

ASDA ASDA ASDA ASDA ASDA

steer clear of pampers they are absolutely shit

LuvSmallDogs · 18/11/2018 19:22

I was so lucky a MW told me on my night on the mat ward to point the willy down, otherwise I too would have had mystery leaks for god knows how long! It’s one of those things that seems obvious with hindsight.

ReflectionsofParadise · 18/11/2018 19:22

Aldi are crap between size 3 and 5. Size 6's are fine. If they're leaking from overfill you need to size up. My almost 18m old has been in size 6+ for about 4/5 months. He's top percentiles but the size limits on them are bollocks anyway.

ReflectionsofParadise · 18/11/2018 19:24

Oh and Tesco Nappies are fab in size 5 up!!!!! (Any smaller and they seem rubbish).

Asda nappies are god awful. Cant hold anything and sag and go bumpy as soon as they're full. Tesco nappies fill evenly like Pampers and Aldi nappies.
