TMI but this cant be normal? Period talk

Sorry TMI i know but I'm starting to worry.

To start off my periods are absolutely up the wall anyway. I've got PCOS and as such for the past few years I've had 1 period every 3-6 months, i spend two weeks in incredible pain, then spend the week flooding through the heaviest night time pads i can find, and tampons- super tampons and sometimes clots are so big that a tampon is useless against them. Sorry i feel so cringe.

In the past few months I've lost 3 stone, still have a fair amount to lose, but exactly two months after my last period I've had another. I was quote excited and hoped that this period would be lighter, and easier to deal with, but since the 16th I've had a headache i cant get rid of, my whole abdominal area hurts, my right leg has been cramped, and I've been passing a lot of golf ball sized blood clots- this isn't unusual but there has ever been 10 or so today.

If anything this is heavier than any of the periods i can remember.

That's not a normal amount of blood to be losing is it?

I feel like im being a big baby, but this doesn't feel normal. I know periods aren't supposed to be a joyful time, but I'm using both tampons and pads which I'm changing every two hours or less and I'm still struggling not to leak.

I don't know what i can do but this doesn't feel like it should be this bad.

Definitely sounds out of the ordinary for you, I would get an appt with your GP first thing tomorrow and talk it through with them as they will know the history with the PCOS. If the bleeding gets excessive or you feel faint give 111 a call tonight, better be safe and get checked if it's clinically indicated.

With the clots and cramped leg I'd be ringing 111, just worried about clots else where. But no not normal and I would be getting emergency appointment with gp tomorrow minimum

AliTheMinx · 18/11/2018 17:23

I would absolutely get checked. Call 111. Take care, OP.

Definitely get a GP appointment, but I'm sorry to say I have PCOS and this is normal for me, I maintain a low but healthy BMI when I'm not pregnant, by following a low GI/carb diet and hitting the gym hard three times a week and restricting calories to around 1250 a day, but even don't all of that I still get the horrendous yet irregular and painful periods. The only thing that helped was an anti androgenic contraceptive pill, initially dianette (didn't know how dangerous it was back then, it's a shame because it was wonderful for me) then Yasmin and it took a few months for things to settle into a monthly cycle, I still got fairly heavy periods but only for 6-7 days not 12-15 and not the pain and clots.

There's a really good website called SoulCysters where you'll find some really knowledgeable people, I found it really helpful when I was still trying to get it under control

I am lucky that my pcos symptoms aren't bad until I'm around 12 stone... given a few months and a few more stone gone i shouldn't have these problems much longer..:-) maybe the Dr will put me on some BC that'll help. X

Obvs seek professional help. But I’d try Tena lady or similar to deal with the flooding out. Not at all glam- but would certainly beat trying to clean up.

Any luck with Drs op? Thanks
