Another christmas tree on a car roof decoration

AIBU if I kill an elf every time I see another decoration/cushion cover/whatever with a bloody Christmas tree on the car roof design? And a twee campervan is even worse.

Why does there always have to be a 'thing' every year that just swamps everything, what has happened to classic independent designs? I don't really care if anyone comes along claiming that it's so last year or whatever, there's still too much of them this year.

And yes, I'm spending too much time on the internet/television at the moment due to illness, so getting the full force of advertising that luckily I usually miss.

Shouldnt it be pointy end first?

wowfudge · 18/11/2018 09:43

At least it features something to do with Christmas. Wtf does a sparkly flamingo have to do with it?

brizzledrizzle · 18/11/2018 09:47

What Xmas tree would be complete without a purple sparkling triceratops? Grin

plominoagain · 18/11/2018 09:51

Do you know , I’m sorely tempted by the red sparkly T. rex though .

And to hell with DH’s tasteful Country homes and Interiors leanings !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/11/2018 09:53

It's very "National Lampoons whatever Christmas film "

The huge estate car and the massive tree lashed to the roof , what japes.

This year though I cannot move for bloody llamas , there is nothing festive about them. At least the pugs were a bit cute .

Ellisandra · 18/11/2018 09:55

I feel your pain. I’m in a camper van forum and people keep gleefully sharing these. It’s all tacky shit, but I’d get run out of town for saying so Grin

Ummm we always strap our tree to the car roof. Who has got a car that can a accommodate a 10ft tree?? It's the only way we can get in home.

DearPrudence · 18/11/2018 10:11

I've seen hundreds of cars with Christmas trees tied (properly) to the top.

I do like the paperchase lamb in the Santa hat.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 18/11/2018 10:14

Not bothered by the ornaments, but that advert (is it Asda?) infuriates me for the same reason OP.

Unless you live in a doll's house I would be very surprised to see you driving around in one of the decorative items mentioned Grin

This is entirely the fault of M&S

Probably the same number of people who have the ceiling height to accommodate a 10ft tree.

BeanBagLady · 18/11/2018 10:47

Oooh, thanks to this thread I have found a set of Star Wars baubles! Result!

bilbodog · 18/11/2018 10:51

I love all those decorations and have a very christmassy t-rex i bought last year 😃. We also had to tie the christmas tree to the roof of our car a few years ago ........ stop being so grumpy.

Alienspaceship · 18/11/2018 10:54

I’ve got no idea what you’re going on about either.

festivellama · 18/11/2018 11:31

My username is so on trend this season...

AdobeWanKenobi · 18/11/2018 11:37

Clearly none of you lot ar TK Maxxers 😉 secret wink handshake Alan all hail

aquamarine1 · 18/11/2018 11:48

@SoyDora a hug number of Victorian houses in West Central Scotland have v high ceilings . Most around here will have tall trees.

HotelRedFace · 18/11/2018 11:52

Sorry OP. This was one of my Christmas card stitchlets from last year and I have just redone it a few times over for this year. I think it is cute!

HotelRedFace · 18/11/2018 11:53

Btw I obviously hadn't finished the back-stitching when I took the photo.

SoyDora · 18/11/2018 11:56

Ah, well I don’t live anywhere near west central Scotland so I suppose that explains it. 25 year old houses in the East Midlands don’t have such high ceilings.
We’ve got a pretty big car though.

SimplyPut · 18/11/2018 12:12

I love them. I do tie our Christmas tree to the roof to bring it home so it is full of nice memories. Live and let live.

practicallyperfectmummy · 18/11/2018 12:14

I have actually been searching for a Beetle car one as my young son is Beetle car crazy. If anyone spots one let me know please!

I think the unicorns and random kitch stuff is worse op at least the tree on a car is actually festive.

popcornwizard · 18/11/2018 14:13

Google is your friend if you think £15 for a matchbox toy with a tree on top is reasonable (I used my son's phone Grin)

Or you could make one quite easily.

Why am I encouraging the madness??
