Toddler being sick for no reason

Posting here for traffic (sorry) but I’m getting worried.

Last weekend & this weekend my 1yo has been sick at bedtime for no apparent reason?? Lots of sick. Fine in her self & no temperature.

What is going on? :(

By this weekend I mean about half an hour ago!!! Hence no doctor visit yet.

My toddler does this if she has a runny nose at all and also sometimes when she is teething. It’s always loads of sick and generally around bedtime, my doctor said that it could be because she has some milk before bed and mucus can stop the milk from digesting properly, resulting in them throwing up?

Cleo2628 · 17/11/2018 19:57

@coba that’s really interesting! She doesn’t seem to have a runny nose but is definitely teething. I never knew that was a thing!

Cyclical vomiting syndrome? It is actually a thing; one of my children went through a phase of vomiting and this was the conclusion we came to, as there was nothing else wrong with him at all

One of mine had this, vomiting at night for a few days but fine during the day and no temp or loss of appetite. Then she got worse and had a day of vomiting and temp, turned out her throat was infected and the doc said she was probably swallowing down the pus at night which was making her vomit. Gross I know!

DD used to do this when she was around 2, it was often when she was very tired or had too much milk/eaten late, she still does it very occasionally now at 5. Just one of those odd things that they do and eventually grow out of I think.

Mascarponeandwine · 17/11/2018 20:17

Does she keep food down during the day? I’d get her checked - part of the brain can cause painless vomiting (rare so don’t panic, but always good to rule these things out)

She’s had a couple of random vomiting episodes in the day as well a couple of months ago :(
Doctors appointment on Monday for sure

I have a child who used to vomit when they were exhausted or very run down. They just needed a good sleep and then were better.

PrincipalVernon · 17/11/2018 21:09

Mine did this- was always just after her milk, quick teeth brushing and into bed then just as she was falling asleep she would throw up everywhere.
Actually she still does it now if she’s got a cold but other than that the random throwing up phased out.
Think like pp said it’s the mucus

Whatififall · 17/11/2018 21:14

If it’s just on a weekend is it different food or routine maybe?

magicpeople · 17/11/2018 21:18

This sound very familiar OP!

DS was a serial spewer, it lasted just over a year, and seemed to stop at 2yo.

He would vomit spectacularly if he coughed, sneezed, cried, gagged on food, on first gulp of his bedtime bottle... and sometimes randomly for no reason. I took him to the GP twice but, as he was thriving and had no other symptoms of illness, they said it was nothing to worry about!

It was proper projectile vomit, we had to take his cot and changing table apart on several occasions. I also remember standing in my kitchen with us both drenched from head to toe - with vomit splashed up the kitchen cupboard doors and fridge (I am not exaggerating btw) and having to strip our clothes off on the spot and go for a shower!

How so much came out of someone so small I'll never know! You really had to see it to believe it - and when friends/family ever witnessed it, they were genuinely gobsmacked.

Whilst it's not nice, maybe this is what your LO has, but I'd take her to the GP just to check.
