I hate this man child.

He won’t even let DC play on it.

Meh, DH has multiple bikes that cost a fucking fortune, but we can afford it, we have separate 'fun' money budgets, so if I wanted to save up and buy something of equal value I could, and his time to use them does not impact on my ability to have free time away.

If you can't afford it, or affording this means you don't get treats, or if playing it means you don't get free time, then it's ok for you to be annoyed.

I don't see the appeal of DH's hobby, I just accept that he's an adult so doesn't need my permission and approval about how he spends his free time and free money.

1poppy1 · 17/11/2018 20:42

I really want a pokemon switch, jealous of your DH. I would let my son play on it honestly!

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 17/11/2018 20:46

Context is everything OP.

DC don't need to have access to things just because they want to. It's okay to have things just for yourself you know.

Steakandkidney · 17/11/2018 20:47

Playing games isn’t childish. How judgemental and rude of you. YABU for that alone
Seriously??!!
I'm sorry but I couldn't find a bloke that sat playing Pokémon after blowing 300 quid, attractive.
For a start it's akin to sitting watching CBeebies by choice, and making the DC sit in another room.
Gaming is one thing couldn't be with one myself, want a grown upbut this is ridiculous.
YANBU

I love these threads Grin It never takes long before people who are spending their Sat night posting passive aggressive, smug shite on the internet crawl out of the woodwork to call other people childish.

Chewe · 17/11/2018 20:55

What's not grown up about gaming? It's like all mediums, there's a range for adults and kids and some can be enjoyed by both, just like movies, TV shows, music, books.

ReflectionsofParadise · 17/11/2018 20:55

@Steakandkidney says you sat on your your pissing phone trawling Mumsnet 😂

How very 'grown-up'

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Skatersbeskating · 17/11/2018 20:57

These threads always go tits up BiscuitBiscuit

Grin
Steakandkidney · 17/11/2018 20:58

Hey, I'm on my laptop. I'm even sat in a proper chair and everything Grin

ReflectionsofParadise · 17/11/2018 20:59

Howling at some of the replies here 😂

Guess what being a grown-up means? It means you get to decide how you, yourself, has 'fun' and doing what you enjoy.

@Steakandkidney probably thinks necking a bottle of Aldi red in the bath is the height of 'adulting' and eating out for Tapas on a Wednesday is as fun as it gets (not tuesday though as that's when the two plates offer is on and we wouldn't want to be common would we)

NicoAndTheNiners · 17/11/2018 21:02

Is the game good?

I bought a switch and Mario kart last week and I like Pokemon go on my phone.

Am also tempted by elder scrolls and am very excited about animal crossing next year.

Steakandkidney · 17/11/2018 21:04

Lol. That's not far off tbh, although it's more like a takeaway for one. Being single I can be choosy, and the longer I go, the more unattractive most male behaviours become. So OP's husband seems a man child. Yet conversely if he was off down the pub I'd call him an alky who put booze before his family.
They can't win Hmm

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/11/2018 21:06

Hey, I'm a gamer and very much a grown up. I drink cocktails, dontcha know!

FrustratedDP · 17/11/2018 21:09

This is also off the back of his Fifa spend last month.

We have the money but it is Christmas next month and it’s a waste he could use it to get the fuck out of this house and go get himself a little wank pad far away from me as possible

OP posts:
busybarbara · 17/11/2018 21:11

Ha, get real. Gaming is as "childish" as riding a bike (buy a car if you're an adult), playing board games, or having to use public transport.

busybarbara · 17/11/2018 21:12

and go get himself a little wank pad far away from me as possible

If you don't like your DH and would be happy for him to leave, why haven't you split up? You probably should if you feel this spiteful over a video game.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/11/2018 21:13

I think the issues go deeper than gaming.

littlbrowndog · 17/11/2018 21:13

Am a gamer
I drink red wine 😂😂🍷

FrustratedDP · 17/11/2018 21:17

BusyBarbra because he won’t leave

A lot of CBeebies is world class television, genuinely. It has its faults, but it's pretty damn good a lot of the time.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 17/11/2018 21:19

Can you leave him? It does sound like you hate him.

Lovemusic33 · 17/11/2018 21:21

We are getting one for Christmas, although it’s for the kids I am a little bit excited about playing Pokemon, I play it on my phone 🤣

Lovemusic33 · 17/11/2018 21:23

If your not happy then leave or kick him out, TBH I couldn’t live with a gamer, this is the first console I have bought and my dc’s are 12 and 14, I hate the things, the kids will have limited time on it. Sounds like there’s more going on, you don’t need an excuse to leave if your not happy.

ghostsandghoulies · 17/11/2018 21:27

Out of all of the hobbies out there, gaming is no worse than watching sport with a pint, going out on a motorbike... When people on here get excited about stuff from the past like retro chocolate bars or whatever do you piss on their parade?

Gaming is not just for kids ffs, The industry makes more money in the UK than music or film. Just because you have never discovered the joy of being sucked into a game, it doesn't make people who enjoy it juvenile.

dannydyerismydad · 17/11/2018 21:28

DH did the same.

I'm in a grump though because we have to save it for Christmas. I want to play now!

Ask to have a turn OP. Gaming is fun.
