To ask for pics of fringes you think look nice?

I'm in the hairdresser's now waiting for my app but I can't decide whether I want a proper straight across fringe (which I've never had) or to go with my old side parted diagonal (if that makes sense) fringe.

Not having much done to my hair, just a trim and maybe some layers for shape/movement.

I've got a long face and am still a bit fat of face so want to soften the edges of my face.

I was thinking of a modern Bardot fringe maybe.

My hair needs work before I leave the house. I can cope with sorting a fringe each morning, but can't be arsed with straightening the whole lot everyday.

@Forgotmycoat thank you!!

OP I also have fine, thin hair. You could definitely get away with pulling more forward for a fuller fringe, it’d make your hair look thicker too.

@SilentIsla, I think a full fringe can look great on adults.

Eliza9917 · 19/11/2018 16:05

I've been looking at other pictures I took that day and I think it looks like this because I put stuff on it. I don't really like my hair to move and not fall back in place so I put some soap & glory melty talented on it. Looking in the mirror I think I could get away with adding more in, but I'm not a hairdresser so I could end up fucking it right up. I might have a go later. Maybe.

@Nalaking your hair looks really thick! Mine is very thin and you can see scalp through it so I've started colouring it in with root powder at the front Grin

Yeah you definitely can't get away with putting stuff in it, your hair is so fine (not a bad thing - that's why it's so shiny!). Definitely pull more forward and make it a bit thicker and blunter. In fact you've inspired me to do mine again!

giordano · 19/11/2018 16:18

Your current fringe is terrible (not your fault obviously). It can definitely be added to. Don't forget you are paying for a service

Nalaking · 19/11/2018 16:24

Ahh no, definitely don’t put anything in your fringe it’ll make it look lank and oily. I only put the tiniest amount of hair oil in the ends of my hair only, even conditioner only goes half way up my hair, us with thin hair have to be careful with products as it can look dirty very quickly. 😭

The heavier the fringe the less it moves too 😉

@CondomsLubricantAndFlapjack I did show DP a picture like that when I asked him whether to go back to my old fringe or get a straight one Grin

@peachgreen @giordano @Nalaking I'll wash & straighten it tonight and see whether itlooks better and whether I'm brave enough to take scissors to it.

This is my fringe, my hair is kinda mid thickness, neither fine nor thick lol I’ve lots of side sweeps too but I think this suits my face better.
Wispy fringes are hard because the often look stringy

I have a "curtains" style fringe which I can also wear as a full fringe if I put more volume in it.

I wouldn’t do it yourself, if you pop back and see you hairdresser they should do it for your free of charge without the risk of it going wrong!

Milliy · 20/11/2018 00:32

Love my fringe Grin

steff13 · 20/11/2018 03:43

I just got my bangs cut on Saturday. My hair is fine.

Eliza9917 · 20/11/2018 09:08

My hairdresser is 1.5-2hrs away, I still go to my old one from before I moved.

I'll try and take a picture of the top of my head to show how far back it already is.

Why on earth do Americans say “bangs” instead of the much more sensible fringe?

crazycatgal · 20/11/2018 20:28

I would go back and get more cut in, it's very stringy and doesn't look great.

The same reason British people call dish soap "washing up liquid?" 🤷

Milliy · 20/11/2018 20:39

Bangs is from the term bangtail which is when the trim horses tails straight across
