To think Facebook friends should keep their political views to themselves?

I have loads of FB friends who I've never met in RL; many of us belong to a group set up for people in our line of work and some have become FB friends outside the group. Within the professional group some are in a position where they have a budget and are able to offer us work.

However, given the recent political cicrs, quite a lot of them like to make their views known in no uncertain terms.

I think it's really tactless because although I may disagree strongly with them, I don't want to get into a heated debate on FB or with someone who holds the purse strings in terms of my work.

I just can't believe people are so tactless to flaunt their politics on FB when they may offend other people who aren't just 'friends' they are also professionals in the same line of work.

I wouldn't personally put political views on any fb that I used for business. It does depend upon the type of business you are in. For example journalists don't give their viewpoint as they try to present an unbiased overview. You don't have to engage though if you'd prefer not to.

well if they are the ones dishing out the work I guess it is how principled you are as to whether you work for someone who has openly expressed views you don't like.

If it were the other way round ie. they were after work then they are risking their own work stream by expressing their views but maybe their views are important to them and they have plenty of work so as to not care if someone who disagrees with them won't instruct them

Op let them rant on about their views, you aren't obliged to argue with them, or debate with them or even to post your views...since they can bring work your way, it's wise to stay civil with them...what would be the point of arguing about politics and costing yourself work...you would only be hurting yourself in the long run by losing potential work for the sake of scoring points in an argument with people.you haven't met in real life..

I'm assuming their political opinion differs from yours. It's up to them what they want to put on their own FB.

Calling people you have never even met 'friends' is absurd.
