Just got home from run and really hungry have put sausages under grill and taken in opened bag of M&S seeded bloomer bread from fridge and expiry date is 11th of November it smells fresh is not hard and there’s no mould.
Would you eat or drive to shops and get more.

It's a best before not a use by so if it looks and feels ok I would use it

wheelygo · 15/11/2018 10:29

It’ll be fine

Brazenhussy0 · 15/11/2018 10:29

Smells good + looks fine = eat it!

Enjoy Grin

UpstartCrow · 15/11/2018 10:29

I'd eat that. I wouldn't if it were chicken or rice.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 15/11/2018 10:30

That was only three days ago. It’s bread. It looks fine. Why on earth would you waste it and unnecessarily go and buy more Confused

Redglitter · 15/11/2018 10:31

If it still seems fresh I'd eat it. I don't think you'd really come to any real harm eating out of date bread. I see food dates as a guide not a rule. If something seems ok I'm not for binning just because the dates up

EllaDownTheLane · 15/11/2018 10:33

It’s bread, if it’s not mouldy or ridiculously hard then it’s fine.

icelolly99 · 15/11/2018 10:33

Who looks at BB dates on bread?! If it looks ok, feels okay smells ok just eat it. Hmm

Bigonesmallone3 · 15/11/2018 10:35

I don't think Iv ever looked at a date on bread! No mould, looks good I'm eating it..

popcornwizard · 15/11/2018 10:35

Am I the only one wondering why the bread was in the fridge?

And toast it if it's a little dry.

OvO · 15/11/2018 10:37

I’d maybe toast it.

I’ve eaten a LOT of out of date bread so I say that with authority. Grin

NormaLouiseBates · 15/11/2018 10:39

@popcornwizard I'm only replying to ask why the hell the bread was in the fridge!

Ghanagirl · 15/11/2018 10:47

Thanks sausages almost done, and have fried some onions as well😊

I keep my bread in the fridge, a loaf will last all week that way. It not, I am having to buy new by Thursday for the kid's lunches.

dementedpixie · 15/11/2018 13:14

It goes stale quicker in the fridge

It goes stale quicker in the fridge

I'm surprised you've found that. Completely the opposite in my house. The loaf I bought at the weekend was still soft this morning.

dementedpixie · 15/11/2018 13:29

We learned about it at school. Bread goes stale faster in the fridge than at room temperature. Freezing makes it last longest

Ghanagirl · 15/11/2018 13:33

Sausage sandwich was delicious.
I’m now living dangerously and putting the rest of the loaf in the freezer as it still seems very fresh...

@dementedpixie

Well, I don't recall if it was mentioned at my school wen I was there all them years ago. I can only tell you what I know happens in real life :)

I used to freeze it, but my new freezer is annoyingly smaller than my old one, so fridge it is.

I actually accidently left a loaf in whilst we went on holiday for two weeks. It was still soft when we returned, not a hint of mould or staleness.
