To ask where the hell do I start with skincare?

I've just turned 27 and I'm getting to the point now where small lines on my face are becoming more noticeable and I'd like to invest in some decent skincare products, the trouble is I have no idea where to start!

So to the collective wisdom of MN, what ingredients should I be looking for? What brands so you recommend? What sort of routine should I be establishing? Any hints and tips would be well-received! Smile

You don’t need to spend £££ on fancy products, a simple facial wash and moisturiser will do. I like Superdrug vitamin e range.

Superdrug Vitamin E or brightening range. The hot cloth cleansers are as good if not better than Liz Earle. I use them in the shower and Aveeno as a moisturiser afterwards. With Clinique City Block over the top (spf40).

If you're already getting lines you can only stop them getting worse quicker. You cannot get rid of them. Though Boots Protect & Perfect serums and line corrector are quite good at 'filling them out'. The latter is excellent under eyes.

Thank you everyone! Feel incredibly thick I didn't remember to check the beauty and style topic. Blush serum here I come!

You need Retinol and all year round broad spectrum SPF - to deal with lines. You have to check you're not allergic to Retinol and then slowly introduce it. The Ordinary products are amazing. Caroline Hirons on YouTube can educate you on cleansing and products.
