to want to kick Christmas back into December

... or at the very least until late November. I can just about accept it in shops, as i accept that the Christmas shopping season is here, but i was sat in a pub tonight with Christmas decorations up. On Sunday I had breakfast at a Toby carvery (never again btw!!) where they were playing Slade and the chef had a Santa hat on. And this was on Rememberance Sunday. It's as if we lurch from one commercial season to the next as soon as one is over. Once Bonfire night is done it's open season on Christmas with no pause for breath 😣. I envy the Americans having Thanksgiving, as I guess it must keep Christmas at bay until the end of Nov.

We've got a block of flats going up at the end of our road which we have to walk past to get to school. The builders have been playing Xmas songs (loudly) since last Thurs. A friend who lives close by informed me this morning that it goes on all day. She's ready to commit murder.
So no, YANBU. It's bloody early November!

Big business know what they're doing

YANBU. All Christmas music in shops should be banned until the 1st December. I can cope with stuff in the shops, but not the music yet.

Yep - way too soon!!

Think the shops 'invented' the Christmas rush and panic for their own gain.

Haven't brought a thing yet!

I live in America. Christmas is most definitely not restricted to December, unfortunately. There is a store near me that began selling Christmas decorations in JUNE! They do sell craft supplies, so I can understand those going out early (though not that early) as people need time to make stuff, but I really struggle to understand why you’d want to buy baubles and a 10ft tree in the summer.

Starbucks was playing particularly bad renditions of Christmas songs yesterday, and the Black Friday hype is well underway. The big Christmas show in our town is only on for one night, and it’s next week.

What is weird though is that there’s way less decoration in the shops than in the UK, and Christmas parties are virtually non-existent. I’ve yet to find a watchnight service, although some of the local churches hold up to six services on Christmas Eve.
