Father and son are out and about in town when a dog attacks them both. Both are badly bitten and taken to hospital for medical treatment. The boy must have a minor operation but just as he is about to go under the knife the surgeon says ' I can't operate - that boy is my son!'

Who is the surgeon?

Kokapetl; ask the tribesman, which is the path to your home village. The truthful one will point to the path leading home. The liar will also point to that path, as it is not the path to his home.
A number one for you. More about thinking the question through.
What number do you get if you multiply together all the digits on a telephone keypad, i.e. 1x2x3x4x5x6x7x8x9x0?
If you think it through, any number multiplied by 0, gives the answer 0, but I have tied classes in knots, as they work through 1x2=2, x3=6, x4=24, x5=120, etc etc, before it dawns on them to cut to the chase......
I also saw the TV programme where the original riddle on this thread was put to people, and depressingly in this day and age, may folk could not see the answer. (But I loved the notable pun!)

The first time I met my friend Bob’s parents they told me they had four sons. They told me the first was called Matthew, the second was called Mark and the third was called Luke. I knew immediately the name of the fourth. What was that name?

Bob

Every morning, a man leaves his flat to go to work. He gets the lift to the ground floor and walks to the bus stop. He returns in the evening but climbs the stairs to his flat instead of taking the lift. It's the same routine every day. There's nothing wrong with the lift and he hates taking the stairs. Explain.

He's too short to reach the button for his floor

"He's too short to reach the button for his floor"

Correct. That had me puzzled for hours when i first heard it, though I was only 6 or 7 to be fair.
