To ask if you have taken antidepressants for PND and did they work?

I have been suffering with PND for about 8 months now. It’s not really getting any better and I’m miserable.

I had wanted to avoid tablets but the CBT is taking ages to come through so I think I’ll have to go back to the doctor to talk about meds.

Do they work? How quickly? Will they kill my sex drive (not that I have much of one)?

What should I be aware of? I’ve never taken them before and I’m it sure what to expect,

Thank you all again - my GP has been very supportive and said she’ll make sure she sees me whenever I need her to.

I’ll definitely call tomorrow.

I tried two but they didn't work for me. What did help was exercise. I took up running, similar to the couch to 5k but before it existed. I also overhauled my diet. Watching what I ate helped my mood and shifted some of the baby weight that was contributing to my depression.

Yes and yes. Sertraline is the safest choice if you’re breastfeeding. It works and you will get better.

I am not breastfeeding but owing to some health issues any exercise more strenuous than walking (which I detest) is off the table for now.
