To take under 10s to see New Man

My children are 7 and 9, and doing a space project at school... has anyone seen New Man yet? It has a rating of 12A so only under 12s with an adult.

I think there is a section of the film of a child with cancer, and I'm not sure what else. I don't mind them seeing a dick child- we have had two family members who they have been very ill with cancer in the last year.

Has anyone seen it, any opinions on whether a mature 7 and 9 year old could/couldn't cope with it?

Many thanks

It's not particularly child-friendly. I found it quite a challenging film. Long periods of feeling like you're in a rattly noisy spaceship with no dialogue. Neil Armstrong seems to have been the strong silent type, so his character emotes a lot but says little. Lots of silences between him and his wife. It's quite adult and not a traditional biopic kind of film. I'd say that under 11s would find it boring/perplexing apart from last half hour on the moon. It's v good but unconventional

It is a very “adult” film. There is a scene showing a failed launch where it is clear the astronauts did not survive. As you say there is a child being treated for cancer who passes, the film revolves around this loss and tensions within Armstrong’s family. There is some swearing as well.
