To do this ?

I don't know if I would even be able to do this legally, would obviously visit a solicitor before committing.

I have a 3 year old dc with an ex partner, we split before he was born and he had weekly contact which then dropped down to fortnightly contact last year when he gathered another child (via ONS). He doesn't pay maintenance anymore as he is unemployed, and I have to initiate contact. We live in the South East in a small but expensive city, around a 45 min train journey from central London. I have the opportunity to buy a property outright in London which would suit the needs of my husband and our young baby , plus my 3yo.

WIBU to move , given that contact would be an hour each way, and that it is sporadic to say the least ? I just feel there are so many opportunities in London which my children could be a part of.

yanbu

BlueThesaurusRex · 11/11/2018 11:58

Yanbu to move under these circumstances, if you’re having to initiate contact every time it sounds like he doesn’t give a toss. Do the best you can for yourself and your DD

Returnofthesmileybar · 11/11/2018 11:59

Oh go definitely! I wouldn't consider his feelings at all given the little contact and no maintenance

Teaandbiscuits35 · 11/11/2018 12:00

YANBU. You do what’s best for you and your child.

gottastopeatingchocolate · 11/11/2018 17:53

YANBU as long as you don't shut the door on future contact.

HollowTalk · 11/11/2018 17:55

I would definitely go. It's not as though you're emigrating.

Isleepinahedgefund · 11/11/2018 19:00

Definitely go. You have an opportunity to provide your children with a secure, unencumbered home., don't pass that up. 45 mins journey is nothing It isn't your job to chase and facilitate contact.

VladmirsPoutine · 11/11/2018 19:20

Do it.Don't even consider not doing so.

VladmirsPoutine · 11/11/2018 19:20

I mean: Do it. Don't even consider not doing so!

MrsStrowman · 11/11/2018 19:23

Oh definitely go, people commute further than that to work every day from the home counties into London

flypow · 11/11/2018 21:22

Obviously his argument would be "why not buy a property in home city". Sigh
