To ask if your children have any idea of stranger danger

And how to teach it in a way that won’t scare them off speaking to strangers when they need it (ie emergencies)

My four year old has NO idea. She will literally talk to anyone anywhere, and think they are her best friends. One man called her ‘love’ whilr we were shopping and she kept saying how nice and handsome he is and asking if we would see him again.

There was an incident last night when she was with my mum coming back to m. My mum has clipped a mans wingmirror coming down our street and he was walking down , hood up, in the dark with a can of beer and shouting confrontationally (actually turned out to be lovely in the end but that’s by the by) and she was about to take off running towards him, she was shouting hi and waving. I asked her to go into the house while I was standing at the door and she ignored me and insisted she needed to talk to the man. She got told off and I put her in the front room and shut the door.

Afterwords I was telling her how she can’t just speak to strangers all the time and she was just not understanding.
I’m concerned that one day she might walk off with a stranger (obviously I’m keeping hawk eyes on her constantly). Not sure what I should do !

My ds is 4.

None. He will go off and sit next to strangers on public transport if I let him.

I can't take my eyes off him, I swear he's trying to rehome himself!

Sure they’d bring her back when she asked them 20 million questions in the space of 30 seconds though Grin
