To give this woman the finger next time she beeps at me?

I’m in a car park, sitting in the passenger seat of my car. It’s city centre, and very busy.

My husband and I both had things to do so parked, went our separate ways, and agreed to meet back at the car at about 5pm. It’s a pay and display, and we’ve paid up until 5.15, but should be gone before then.

I finished what I needed to do faster than anticipated, so bought a coffee and now I’m in the car with the radio on, my coffee and a muffin, and Kindle.

A few minutes ago, a car stopped in front of where I’m parked (forward-facing space with cars driving perpendicular to the spaces) and beeped. I looked up and the driver mouthed “are you leaving?” at me. I shook my head to say no. She rolled her eyes, and drove off.

A few minutes later, another beep. I don’t look up. More beeping. I finally look up and she gestures to me so I pull down my window and she again asks if I’m moving. I say no, I’m here for another while and point to the parking ticket. She tells me the car park is for people who are shopping, and I’m taking up a space.

I laughed, and rolled up my window.

I’m now planning on reading my book whilst keeping my middle finger cocked, just to save her the hassle of beeping.

Maybe she's the same OP on here a while ago who complained that people weren't driving off straight away after getting back to their cars after taking their children into school so she could park there. Grin

Some people loose all common sense when they get in thier car.
Shes probably the sort to complain to managment when a total stranger wont teach her dc to swim 😂

Are there no other spaces? Not that I think you should have moved but I wonder why she craved your spot

There’s construction going on and half the car park is fenced off, so very few spaces. Plus, because of the fencing and some random cones, a lot of spaces that look empty are very narrow so hard to get in to unless you have an especially narrow car.

Anyway, I’m home now. She did drive past me once more, but didn’t beep. She did glare at me, but I just smiled and put my head back into my book.

I hate hooting, even if I’m 100% in the right. It’d be my luck that I’d beep at some aggressive fool and get an earful for it, so it’d never dawn on me to start beeping at people randomly in car parks in case it lead to confrontation or aggression. She had two small kids in the back too, so I’m sure she can live without that aggro.

I don't like hooting either. I've been driving over 30 years and have hooted people 10 times or less. Honestly.

If someone does something really stupid I'd rather take avoiding action than hitting the horn first and risking a collision while I was sounding my righteous anger. When it's over I prefer a tut and a hard stare and think your subtle middle finger while propping up your book was genius.
