To consider spending £300 on a hairdryer?

I’ve been debating whether to get the Dyson hairdryer for months now and Boots have a points offer on where you receive £51 worth of points when you buy it so now really is the time if any. I was brought up in a household where money wasn’t tight but my parents certainly wouldn’t have (any still wouldn’t) spend that much money on a luxury. I could afford it without taking money from elsewhere (mortgage, food shopping money, etc) but I am aware it’s JUST A HAIRDRYER. However, I have thick, wavy, long hair and blow-drying it does my head in so I’m very tempted.
Do any of you own this apparently superior gadget? Would you recommend it? The reviews online are either 5 star or 1 star.
Help!

Why don't you just get a professional hairdryer? You can get them online.

I was very tempted but couldn’t justify the cost at the time. Before I make any aofinifixamt spend o try and justify it, but as they had only just come out at the time I didn’t feel confident with the reviews. Very sceptical lol. Ended up buying something else which is still very but still over £100. I can’t believe I spent that on a hairdryer either, but I have naturally very curly long hair, It’s not particularly thick, but prone to frizz especially when it’s wet or humid.

I know I’m delaying the inevitable, but I wish you could try before you buy as it’s a large investment for something like this.

I may put it on my christmas list for next year.

If you are anywhere near London, you can book a free blow dry at the Dyson demo store on Oxford street so you can see how it works on your hair (although I appreciate it might not be in time to order it with the Boots points deal)

I have got fine wavy/curly hair that used to frizz lots. The Dyson hairdryer has practically eliminated the frizz and is quicker (although since my hair is so fine, the timing is not a major bonus)

I have got one and love it! X

If you buy direct from Dyson they offer a money back guarantee, so you can see if it’s worth it. When I spoke to them a couple years back about a vacuum they said you’re allowed to try it out in that time, so it’s not like those useless guarantees where the product must be returned unused.

Obvs you won’t get the Boots points, but you won’t waste your money if it’s crap either.

I have unusually thick hair. I’m really interested to see thatvlots if people are saying it cuts hair drying by half!! I would never have considered spending so much on a hairdryer, but am considering asking for it as a Christmas present now.

Thanks for all of your opinions. Because of you lot with thick hair raving about it, I’ve ordered one. I’ve had a really shit year and thought I’d treat myself. Let’s just hope I love it, eh?
