To ask whether "carrying" means pregnant in this situation?

Lovely man just offered me seat on the tube, awkwardly uttering "I've just realised you're carrying". Accepted gratefully as was wielding a massive bag but upon reflection, I wonder if he thought I was 'with child'? Mortified at thought of procuring seat under false pretenses and slightly distraught to be mistaken for being pregnant. I had pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast today due to being mildly hungover and have also consumed fizzy drinks and two brownies...

Grin This made me lol Grin

That dress does look like a maternity smock so I'd probably say he assumed that you were pregnant.
Never mind, you bagged a seat! Win!!

Ahhh, glad I amused you, Rachel. I had one of those eating terribly because I was groggy days Smile

That’s honestly very similar to the —maternity smock— dress I was wearing when I got offered a seat

Fail 🤦🏼‍♀️

I carried something to a customers car once- a 5 minutes walk. And she said are you expecting? And I genuinely thought she meant a tip and said no. Then she said cos you shouldn’t have been carrying that. (She said this when we arrived at her car) so she was a double wagon. She insulted me and put my hypothetical baby at risk. I was sooooo annoyed

I LOVE that dress OP.

A very loooong necklace that goes to your navel would stop it looking maternity if you don't want to wear a belt. Belts aren't good when your pregnant with food baby y'get acid heart burn.

I really really like the dress and despite the fact people think it's maternityish I would buy it and I'm not pregnant.

But he may have been referring to you carrying a massive bag, gun or drugs.

Thank you, Hazard. Well it has sold out online so it is possible that there are other ladies out there who have been similarity smock-shamed?!
