Maternity public transport discount

I’ve been reading a lot of sad comments about women on maternity leave, being entitled to a discount transport fare, and it really annoys me !!
I live in zone 6 where transport to central London costs £12, I’ve been paying taxes for over 15 years in this country to receive a £500 monthly maternity .
Now we all know that transport and accommodation are the most important businesses in London , and I would like to see anyone with £580 salary paying transport and being able to effort it !!
I think this country needs more Weman in to the government..
And also if this would cost a fortune to the government, why don’t cut off some benefits to lazy people???
I’m sorry but is not everything just about business !!
Some people asked why weman and not man ??
Well it should be to maternity or paternity leave time only
Regardless gender !!
Till you get back to work at least and be able to effort transport fare as receiving a normal salary ..

Eh?

Are you under the mistaken impression that taxes are a personal savings account you're able to draw off as you see fit just because you decided to reproduce?

Taxes go to fund the vital infrastructure that supports a peaceful society so that members of that society can largely go about their business unmolested. That's a very valuable asset to have.

And it's women, not wemen.

Do get over yourself. If you cannot afford to live on SMP then you go back to work. I had to go back when mine were 2 months old and 4 months old. I sure as fuck didn't expect the government to pay my transport or that just because I decided to reproduce.

Don’t be goady. People on benefits are not lazy.

I have no problem with subsidising public transport for women on SMP. I think it’s quite a good idea.

Well aren't you a GF.

Oh and its woman or women.

SillySallySingsSongs · 09/11/2018 08:56

I am confused.

BikeRunSki · 09/11/2018 09:04

Ah yes taxes. Nuisance aren’t they? Did you have your baby in a private hospital? Was your maternity care all privately funded? Will your child go to a private school? Or maybe - have your taxes been contributing towards the public funding (such ad it is) to these services?

Back to the original point. I have 2 dc.Never heard of discounted public transport fir people on mat leave, but then my rural public transport is pretty limited. Family railcard might help ?

Fluffyears · 09/11/2018 09:05

You actually have a job? Jeez I hope you don’t have any written communication with anyone. Not all people on benefits are ‘lazy’ or scroungers. How much travel do you do on maternity leave? You certainly aren’t commuting every day?

Crawl back under your bridge and learn to spell and write in coherent sentences

Do Mothers on maternity leave need to commute into central London very often?

tillytrotter21 · 09/11/2018 12:55

Why are you so special for being pregnant? Lots of people need to visit the hospital, often for conditions beyond their control, unlike pregnancy! Maybe the question of hospital parking needs looking at first.
