AIBU to think that they just shouldn't?

But that’s not unusual, that’s my point. Fashion is rarely profitable at that level. Most design houses are subsidised by the huge conglomerates they are owned by

MrsJayy · 09/11/2018 08:24

Stadium tickets are always expensive Dd looked at getting pink tickets cheapest 103 quid Shock

MrsJayy · 09/11/2018 08:26

Not that I think it's right concert tickets shouldbe so bloody expensive.

Slimtimeagain · 09/11/2018 08:40

I reckon they'll sell out really quickly. Like really quickly. They were a huge girl band back in the day. I'm mid 20s and loved them growing up! Many many people I know will be going to see them. Bring back a bit of childhood. Too expensive for me sadly but I would love to go!

Gingerivy · 09/11/2018 08:50

Article somewhere stated that Victoria Beckham still will profit as she owns a percentage. (and obviously that's fine - she has every right to do so)

I am happy to see them do a tour. I imagine it will sell out very quickly. I can't afford tickets (even though my dcs would love to go), but I did take my dd and some of her friends to a Spice Girls concert the first time around, so have had the experience already (albeit years ago). I was prepared to "suffer through" the concert for the sake of my dd and her friends, but actually very much enjoyed it. It is sad to see the price of the tickets is quite high though. I'd rather see more concert dates with more reasonable prices.

I don't have any problems with their "message" of girl power. Frankly, I think a bit of feel good pop music is a good thing right now, with everything else going on in the world.

Oldgranny · 09/11/2018 09:04

'Fucking car ????'

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 09/11/2018 09:20

The article being headline "Viva Four-ever" really tickled me. Grin

How cheap can a stadium be? With hire costs/lighting rigs/building the stage etc. Not saying it's not expensive, but presumably there are quite a lot of costs to offset before you make any profit?

sushisuperstar · 09/11/2018 09:43

The supporting act was enough to scare me off: Jess Glyne

Susiesoap7 · 09/11/2018 09:45

Loved them back in the day, but can't afford those ticket prices, shame but not to worry never saw elvis either! Lol

user1471426142 · 09/11/2018 09:59

I think it’ll probably be quite good fun but I’m not sure whether it will be as successful as Take That as I think they were very much of their time. I loved them when I was younger but I probably wouldn’t pay stadium prices to see them now, especially as they can’t really sing and are maybe getting a bit old to be playing the personas they had in their 20s. I also think the radio continued to play Take That music consistently after they split. You don’t seem to hear as much of the old spice girl songs. Even at uni in the mid 00s the cheesy nightclubs in my city didn’t really play the spice girls songs but you’d hear sclub7, five, Britney etc.

Eliza9917 · 09/11/2018 12:09

I was thinking of getting tickets but they are far too overpriced. If they were £30-40 I might have.

I think it's only about the money for Mel B: I think Geri can't bear to be out of the spotlight, and I think the other two are probably in it for a last hurrah, so to speak. They are probably not going to get the opportunity to do this sort of thing again. I think Victoria has the right idea as it just sets her up for ridicule, and she's trying to be all serious these days. Their songs were ok, but none of them could really sing - people say Mel C had a good voice - definitely stronger than the rest, but I really didn't like how her voice sounded. TBF I was already pushing 30 when they started out so I'm not interested in them, but maybe younger fans will go for the nostalgia - although I don't think it's really authentic without Victoria.

Nanny0gg · 09/11/2018 12:44

It's different to Take That because it can be argued that Gary Barlow has some talent. Mel C can sing but the others are dreadful

Ubertasha2 · 09/11/2018 12:45

Thanks for reminding me- sadly, I really want to go. Loved Mel C as Mary Magdalene!

Lweji · 09/11/2018 12:45

Article somewhere stated that Victoria Beckham still will profit as she owns a percentage.

A percentage of what? Has she actually written any songs?

LuckyDiamond · 09/11/2018 12:48

Go see Little Mix instead.

Cheaper tickets, better tunes.

PumpkinKitty82 · 09/11/2018 12:50

All my friends are going apeshit on social media about it and it’s driving me nuts!
I was a fan but this is flogging a dead horse and we all know they will sound utter shite

RibbonAurora · 09/11/2018 13:15

Victoria Beckham doesn't need the money or the attention, she has both aplenty so why would she risk this potential train crash of a tour? I totally understand her decision to not touch this with a bargepole.

The others may or may not have money/relevancy issues that are driving this but either way they're coming across a little desperate. They were successful in their time by taking a gimmick and running with it, they had novelty and youth on their side. They made themselves stand out and milked it for all it was worth at the time. Good on 'em but, let's face it, they were at best only ever mediocre performers then and they're mediocre performers now but without the advantage of freshness they had in their heyday.

FannyFanackerpants71 · 10/11/2018 21:14

Saw the Spice Girls in concert at the MEN arena in the late 90's. All 5 of them. Just b4 Geri left. They were crud then so I've no reason to believe they won't be crud now. I won't be queuing to see them.

Waiting for Oasis to reform... now they were great in concert with Supergrass as support. Queue for miles to see that again!

CluedoCat · 10/11/2018 21:26

The Spice Girls had terrible songs, were mediocre singers, and all quite average looking girls. Maybe that's why they were so big?

FemaleFootballFan · 10/11/2018 21:28

Zig a zig nah

Camsie30 · 10/11/2018 21:53

It's all a bit desperate to me. Not just the spice girls, nsync/boyzone/take that... Bleugh

dedicatedfolloweroffashion · 10/11/2018 22:39

Horrendous on Jonathan Ross just now. Kylie minogue politely cringing at them

Susiesoap7 · 11/11/2018 09:15

Geri looked strange, very thin an a bit gaunt, fighting to be the spokesperson.

ThrillitDontkillit · 11/11/2018 09:32

I am going! Why not? And I love Jess Glynn too, so double bubble.

I saw Take That last year being supported by All Saints. It was great! Nostalgic and good fun.

They want to do it, people are willing to pay to see them. What is the issue?
