I was out shopping today and a lady asked me if I was pregnant. I was so shocked and hurt as I’m not . But I replied yes as I didn’t want to hurt her feelings by correcting her that I’m just fat. I should have just said I wasn’t shouldn’t I ? Instead of having a full conversation with her about it . Anyway I found a toilet and had a little cry. It’s the kick up the bum I needed really to make me realise it’s time to lose weight.

Someone once asked me when I was due or so I thought I was stood at a bus stop though, and they were asking about the bus Blush almost worse.

DistanceCall that is a bloody brilliant answer!

I’ve had this recently only it was a deaf man who pointed at my stomach and then mimed rocking a baby and I couldn’t say say anything but just had to shake my head no with much emphasis! He wasn’t trying to be rude as he had previously gestured to my toddler and signed that she was very pretty. It was so awkward not to be able to explain that I had a 2 month old at home and it was quite a rude thing to ask even if I wasn’t recently postpartum. It really made me feel shit about myself so I completely understand how you must have felt. Flowers for you

My exmil told me I was still fat.. Ds was a fortnight old!
Some people just have no filter

Ex MIL patted my stomach and said "I think you've still got another one in there!"

I was 6 days post partum.

I don't miss her.

One of my acquaintances patted my stomach (a few days after a section, while I was taking my baby home from the hospital) and said "there's definitely another one in there." I was devastated.

I wasn’t asked if I was pregnant but my DH and DS and I flew across country to my identical twin’s graduation when she earned her PhD and in the ladie’s bathroom I ran into someone who worked with my sister and said “You must be Debbie’s MOTHER” yeah idk who was more embarrassed me or her I said “I’m actually her twin sister”

This happened to a friend of mine - a man on a packed train stood up and offered her his seat, saying 'I couldnt let a pregnant young lady stand for the rest of her journey'. She just accepted the seat and didnt say anything either. (she was secretly mortified).

This happened to me in Sainsbury's. I chose to take it as a compliment. I'm 56.

MsHopey · 09/11/2018 05:05

Someone asked me if I was pregnant a few weeks ago, technically yes, I am.
But I was 10 weeks and not showing at all so it was very awkward. She asked if I knew it was a boy or girl, so clearly thought I was pretty far ahead ☹ yes, I need to lose weight.

OrgyOfSpookiness · 09/11/2018 05:21

This has happened to me twice now.

The first time was at work when I was 21 and I replied about probably just fat and I'd not being to the loo all day. Went home to my ex who did nothing but comment on how 'fat' I was.

The second time was three months ago and two weeks after I'd given birth in a pharmacy with my son whilst trying to buy nipple cream. I just snapped what are you talking about she's in the car with her dad. I've clearly just had one.

Years ago I remember listening to.a radio phone in about whether pregnant women should be offered seats on public transport. A young 'geezer' rang in and said 'Sometimes, its not easy to tell, so I 'd rather let a pregnant woman stand than make a fat girl cry'
