Ddog has eaten something rancid again and shit all over my lounge carpet. I have cleaned immediately and gone over it with a carpet cleaner and it is now dry and surprisingly fresh smelling unlike dog. However it has stained the carpet and now we have a beautiful smelling shit stained carpet for any potential visitors to admire, please, please can I have tried and tested tips for removing stains?
**disclaimer - I have no plans to stick a cork up her bum, it would come flying out with the foul smelling wind and probably break something

I misread this as cock and I am so fucking glad I'm wrong.

Pursefirst · 08/11/2018 14:52

Gosh OP, can sympathise.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to wrestle/put in a headlock/put my hand down the throat of my idiotic shihtzu who lives to eat random shit that almost kills her. I would dearly love to muzzle her, although her ridiculous (but very cute) flat face makes it impossible.

I second either a bio washing powder paste or some sort of enzyme cleaner.

Here is the fool in all her glory.

We have a hand held steamer from Amazon, it's brilliant at diarrhea stains! They don't last forever I just get a cheap one with good reviews.
You steam the stain with the smallest nozzle and blast the stain out, holding the nozzle at an angle then blotting up any moisture.

Most animals have an inbuilt survival instinct that if they eat something that subsequently makes them ill they avoid that ''food'' source in future.

Why does this not apply to dogs? Mine included.

He's 10 years old now but there's still hardly a week goes by when he doesn't find something disgusting to eat, resulting in the shits and vomiting

dogsaster · 08/11/2018 15:21

purse if she was as cute as yours I would forgive more easily.
I have managed to get hold of Dr Beckmans as we are much closer to a supermarket than a pet shop and I am hoping the stain will be magically gone once it dries completely.
I cannot currently see how much it has disappeared as it turns out our carpet colour is much closer to 'light shit' than cream so the damp patch(es) look just like they did before right now.
I'm so very pleased that she is more partial to rolling in poo than eating it cobblett, although at least if she had eaten in straight away there might have been less mess to clear up initially Envy < not envy

House contents insurance??

Slightly different, but my DS once spilled lime green soda on my carpet, I tried everything but it would not come out. I was at the carpet shop pricing up more when the lady there told me to try and claim on insurance.
The insurer came out, had a look, declared nothing gets green pop out of carpets, and arranged for me to get a new one.
Might be worth a try?

dogsaster · 08/11/2018 15:43

Ruby I hope it doesn't come to that, I don't know how much our excess is off the top of my head but suspect it might not be worth it, also its the same colour carpet as the rest of that half of our downstairs and not a new carpet at all so replacing it would look different next to the rest even if we got the same carpet IYSWIM

I can't tell you the worst thing Ddog ate as you would boak (terrier), but I have seen my friends Ddog eat a squirrel that was so dead it was green and it had no ill effect (labrador) Grin

If you know someone who works in a vet's surgery or an old people's home, there's a floor cleaner specifically for this. Some vet surgeries will sell you a container of it if you ask. It stinks of hospitals and decrepitude but it does the job. Can't remember what it's called but there are a few brands.

GreyHare · 08/11/2018 16:34

I recently got a shitty puke stain out of my carpet with a combination of Simple Solution and Vanish Carpet Spray, as my delightful dog likes to eat fox and badger poo and then throw it up on the carpet/bed/sofa.

I read the I read the title of this thread and my only thought was 'well you should at least ask him first'.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 08/11/2018 17:20

My friend has said that they only got a labrador because her DH is a vet. Quite frankly he needs a zip on his side because he's forever eating socks/plastic bags etc that need surgically removing - she says as soon as they cotton onto his latest fetish he moves onto a new one.

LakieLady · 08/11/2018 17:33

Eeeuughh! Vile dog. Grin

They are buggers for eating all sorts of shite (literal and metaphorical). When DDog was a pup, she loved sheep shit so much that I seriously considered collecting it to use as training treats.

Despite her disgusting habits (in her youth, she would catch, kill and eat a rabbit, sometimes sharing a bit with her mate who lives next door (both terrier breeds). Amazingly, nothing has ever given her serious squits and the only time she pukes is when she's bolted her dinner or has been a bit car sick.

Her predecessor however, same breed, would get dreadful diarrhoea whenever we went away anywhere. We had to prevent it by taking a big bottle of water from home and only gradually introducing him to local water. We didn't twig this until after he'd had dreadful explosive diarrhoea when we were camping and I woke up to the sound of him shitting profusely about 12" from my head, while I was asleep on the air bed!

Possibly the most unpleasant awakening I have ever had.

cobblett36 · 08/11/2018 19:08

Really hope it works for you. Fingers crossed OP. Haha true, our old goldy used to find any bit of wet mud, fox poo etc and roll in it. Even in a dry field she would find a puddle, tenacious at times aren't they.
