To ask for reassurance that my 2 year old will learn to talk?

My child turned 2 in July, she had meningitis at a year old and has no proper words.

She does nod and shake her head, though only to a few things, seems to understand probably 20 single words, but if I say them in a sentence she doesn't seem to.

She tries to copy a couple of words but will make single sounds for them for example 'ba ra ma'. She won't say them alone to ask for something.

She does babble and shriek a lot so I don't think its that she doesn't want to talk.

I don't think shes autistic and speech therapist agrees. Is very content and calm for a 2 year old, makes eye contact and plays a lot. Her hearing is fine.

Has anyone else's child been similar to this at this age and gone on to learn to speak?
I'm not worried if shes late with it, I'm just worrying that she might not have the ability to as more time passes, shes not learnt a new sound in around 4-5 months.

I’m experiencing something similar with my DS. He’ll be 2 in February but seems so behind compared to his ante natal group. He doesn’t say any words practically yet - he has done like mum, daddy, duck and quack but he doesn’t say them anymore. It’s like he learns something and forgets it which worries me. I took him to a paediatrician and she said she had no worries with him and said if he’s the same when he turns 2 we’ll start speech therapy. He had his hearing checked and aced it.
I suppose none of this is helpful to you but sometimes I feel like the only one going through it and worrying so you’re not alone.
