Travelodge reservation

Bobbybear10 · 07/11/2018 14:24

Is there a way to find out if a Travelodge reservation has been made in someone else’s name?

It can’t be by looking at old emails.

I’m mainly wondering if I could call them and would they tell me if a reservation was made in a mans name (I’m female so can’t pretend it is my reservation)

Probably not, but I guess it would depend who picks up the phone. E.g. "Just calling to confirm my reservation for Saturday", then just give the surname. Say it's your husband if they question it, and you might get the answer. If it doesn't work, it would be a bit obvious if you then found a man to phone up for you. Do you have a male friend who could do it for you? Not asking what it's for... I don't think I want to know.

Bobbybear10 · 07/11/2018 14:32

No you don’t want to know.

I don’t have anyone I can ask, it’s obviously sensitive.

You could pretend to be an assistant phoning up to confirm booking for mr x?

Bombardier25966 · 07/11/2018 14:39

That would be a breach of the GDPR.

Would you like it if someone breached your confidentiality like that?

Bombardier25966 · 07/11/2018 14:40

And you don't have to confirm bookings at Travelodge!

MereDintofPandiculation · 07/11/2018 15:15

And you don't have to confirm bookings at Travelodge! ... though it would be a good idea if Mr X were possibly going to be booking in late.

purplecorkheart · 07/11/2018 15:19

No there is not. The GDPR laws make it illegal for them to do.

MrsStrowman · 07/11/2018 15:53

Have you been emailed about a booking in a man's name? This happened to me last year shortly followed by a flurry of fraudulent activity on my card. Or are you checking up on someone?

MrsStrowman · 07/11/2018 15:57

Not sure about Travelodge but premier Inn are quite slack, a couple of months ago I was studying in one for work, my colleague was running late and text to ask if I could double check he was booked into that branch (the time before some of us had been in one and the rest in another PI up the road), he was driving and didn't want to pull over and boot up his laptop to check. I just called and said can I check if Mr X is staying at the central or West branch this evening, he's en route running late and can't access his confirmation, but there was a mix up last time and he went to the wrong one, they confirmed he was at Central. They didn't even ask me who I was

MrsStrowman · 07/11/2018 15:57

HoleyCoMoley · 07/11/2018 15:59

Why do you want to know. The staff should respect confidentiality and I'd be surprised if they just confirm a booking without any authorisation such as a reservation number.

JeanPagett · 07/11/2018 16:06

I'd do as Hedgehog suggests and say your his wife/PA/whatever if challenged. To be honest I'd be surprised if they challenged you about being female, pretty rude if you were just a man with a high voice.

I hope you don't have any unpleasant suspicions confirmed Thanks

Fettuccinecarbonara · 07/11/2018 16:08

If it’s a historic booking, you could phone up as secretary to Mr X and say you need the invoice and could they email it through to you (maybe set up a professional sounding email address first)

HoleyCoMoley · 07/11/2018 16:09

I if the man involved discovers that the hotel gave out this information without his consent could the hotel staff get sacked for breaching any confidentiality laws

MarthaArthur · 07/11/2018 16:31

You can phone up and confirm a reservation under whatever name. They will confirm it for you. I used to do this with an ex as he would book the hotel and i would call up or go in and ask so i could use the room.

Bobbybear10 · 07/11/2018 17:41

It’s actually information for a friend.

I don’t want to give too many details as it’s not my story to tell but it’s about her husband.

He was supposed to be at work today but his phone tracker tracked him to a Travelodge at 12:00 this afternoon and ‘lost GPS’ on him until 4:00pm on his way home.

Maybe he stopped at the services and got a drink but his phone lost GPS and didn’t update, and the GPS happened to put him at the other side of the services in the middle of the Travelodge building by mistake. Hmm

Figured his email password but all recent email deleted and the recently deleted folder had only junk emails.

Depending on the job, I quite often used to go to meetings in hotel lobbies/the attached pub. Simplest place if one of the attendees is staying there.

WhiteCoyote · 07/11/2018 17:49

No it would be a confidentiality breach. Think of the shitstorm if it was a violent ex trying to find out where his victim was staying and ringing up travelodges asking if there a xxx staying there or had recently stayed.

Depending on the travelodge they may just tell you to contact head office.

iklboo · 07/11/2018 17:51

Our company sometimes hosts meetings in hotel conference rooms, Travelodge included. Could he have been attending a course, interview or assessment he's not told her about?

itswinetime · 07/11/2018 17:52

Figured his email password but all recent email deleted and the recently deleted folder had only junk emails.

I don't think you need travellodge to confirm Really do you this would be damming for me Flowers

ApolloandDaphne · 07/11/2018 17:55

I can see where my DH is on a phone tracker but sometimes it is way off and has him a long way from where i know he is. There are also many places that have no 4G so he remains 'stuck' wherever he had been previously. Or his phone runs out of battery or is switched off due being in meeting so i can't see him at all. Loads of reasons why your friends DH appeared to be at the Travelodge or the GPS was lost.

HoleyCoMoley · 07/11/2018 17:57

Did he not go into work, what made your friend try and track him in the first place. I wouldn't involve the hotel staff, it's not their concern, could she not just ask him where he was today.

siakcaci · 07/11/2018 18:00

Is there a way to find out if a Travelodge reservation has been made in someone else’s name?

Really odd that an adult would not know the answer to this.

No there is not a way to check up on people.

AmIAWeed · 07/11/2018 18:02

Ok so if this were me, I'd set up a rule in the settings for emails to auto forward to an additional email address. Then email and ask them to resend the invoice.
If he didn't book they'll say they can't track the booking...if he did, you'll get it in an email

Totally unethical, but as I assume we're talking about a married man potentially having an affair I'd do it to a) get evidence of an affair to use as reasons for divorce b) if there's nothing, it's a wake up call that something in the relationship is bad for you to be feeling and acting this way
Either way, something needs to change

AmIAWeed · 07/11/2018 18:08

Just a thought, do travel lodge have an account? On hotels.com I get all our staffs bookings by logging in as them - can you try and log in and if password is different to emails, as you have access just hit 'forgotten password' and reset from the email account you've guessed the password to?
