To have weighed myself after I went to the loo ..

Firstly: I promise I'm not a poo troll but I'm in shock and I need to ask if anyone else has every experience this!

I'm 7 weeks PP and just started a new pill on Thursday and I'm also trying to lose some baby weight so I've been doing slimming world. I weighed myself this morning and was disgusted to find out I'd actually put on 4lbs!! Was gutted thinking it was my new pill!

Cue about an hour and a half later, went to the loo and felt much better, less bloated etc afterwards so decided to weigh myself.

I was the exact same weight as I was when I weighed myself on Thursday. Why did I lose 4lbs from just going to the toilet

Note: I did weigh myself a few times this morning and afterwards to make sure the scale was working properly

The advice to weigh yourself less frequent is not recommended for those with medical issues that require really close monitoring of weight fluctuations but for those that get too obsessive about weighing per se while trying to loose weight.

Also my sister once informed me that my then scales weighed 5lb lighter than other scales. I tried various other scales, she was right, I was gutted Smile.

I'm weighing myself weekly on the same boots scale. I make sure I've been the toilet beforehand.

Weighing yourself daily wouldn't be beneficial.

"Also my sister once informed me that my then scales weighed 5lb lighter than other scales"

It doesn't matter if your scales are slightly out, because they'd still show that you are losing weight.

Standard to weigh - after. I go for a second punt after taking off mascara. You never know

I had to wee in a measuring jug once (bladder issue) and first thing in the morning if I'd slept well and not got up to go to the loo it was easily 500-800ml i.e. 500-800g.

sofato5miles · 07/11/2018 11:48

After a few years of research, I can tell you that: my morning wee is usually 300ml/g.

Oliversmumsarmy · 07/11/2018 11:51

FWIW first few days after having dd I weighed myself first thing then went to the loo.

I could wee for several minutes straight and once lost 12lbs.

I lost 4 stone over the first week.

I regularly poo 2lbs. It’s incredible.

Biologifemini · 07/11/2018 11:54

Checking your weigh regularly is a good way to prevent drift as you realise if you are putting on a few kilos.
I weigh myself twice per week and if I have put on weight then I increase the amount of fruit, veg and fibre for a couple of days and the weight comes off.

I once shaved my legs, cut my toenails and trimmed my pubes before Fat Club. Every little helps.

I have been known to have a haircut before weigh-in too - oh, and I always take my earrings off! Grin

'I weigh myself three times on a digital and normally get a different result each time'

Yes our digital scales are used in the same place, zero'd before starting yet can vary 2lbs here and there if I get on and off them.

Namelessinseattle · 07/11/2018 12:43

I never weigh myself after a bath or shower - I’m afraid that my skin has soaked it all in and is making me heavier.

I’m convinced my digital scales has a mind of its one and can tell my reaction to a weight cos in the space of 3 or 4 minutes it’ll give 3 or 4 weights and then find one to stick with. And sometimes it’s nice to me and sometimes it’s not.

DwangelaForever · 07/11/2018 12:45

@drspouse I had a section and had to regularly measure my pee the first few days afterwards and it's crazy how much you can pee out in one go 🙈

I know, Birdsgotta but I was happily maintaining at the time, thinking I was 5lb lighter than I was! ignorance is bliss

MatildaTheCat · 07/11/2018 12:51

If I weigh myself first thing then later in the morning, assuming I’ve not eaten much, I’m often lighter that bit later. I hold fluid overnight and pee it out in the morning.

No way could your poo have weighed 4lb- that’s a tiny baby!!

DwangelaForever · 07/11/2018 12:56

@PasswordRejection yes mine have been the same too! I had a section so I'm convinced they've done something to my intestines to result in such massive poos 😂😂
