I'm 53 yrs old and have never ever been sent abroad by work. I can't wait! 5 nights in a hotel with no-one to nag me about anything, no food to cook, no dog to walk and a city to explore.

Of course there is the small matter of a training course to go to but I am not going to let that get me down Grin

Oooh, exciting!

When are you going? Will you be there when Sinterklaas arrives?

Wrap up warm. Amsterdam is a great city. I went there for work and met DH!

We often go in November and are surprised by how cold it is. As it's a small city you'll probably want to explore on foot so make sure you have suitable footwear and warm layers.

This Indonesian (former Dutch colony) restaurant is a little touristy but I strongly recommend it. You should book or be prepared to wait half an hour in a nearby bar before a table becomes available.

This is also a nice Dutch bar, good views over the canal at the back (and a little outdoor terrace on the ground floor).

Just one more recommendation - this is a lovely café for morning/daytime coffee or lunch and people watching if you're in or near the Museum area. Great "Dutch" staples on the menu.

Amsterdam is quite expensive so hope you can claim some food, drink and travel costs from your employer. Have an amazing trip.
