I really want to make the switch to reusable from disposables, im thinking moon cup in the day and reusable pads at night, but there are so many brands of mooncup! Can you give me some recomendations(sp?)? If it helps i have a child if that makes a difference. TIAGrin

Mooncup Model A if you are over 30/gave birth vaginally. Would recommend, so much better than tampons/towels for zero leaks etc

Christmas time last year there was a deal posted on here for OrganiCup,
BOGOF.
Think it worked out around £23 for Two (which I'm glad I had as I accidentally flushed one!)
Come with a Little Drawstring bag to keep them in too!
Once you get Used to them they are Brilliant!
I Love mine and id never go back to Disposables now
Maybe worth waiting to see if they have the same offer on this year?

Mooncup is a brand - they have 2 sizes. I liked my mooncup (no longer need it) but you must trim the stem.

Avoid Lunacup (US brand) - they are scared to use the word women and think it's acceptable to call us menstruators.

I recommend mooncup
I didn’t get on so well with ladycup - I found it hard to get hold of to remove, too slippery.

I've used Mooncup for over 10 years but sometimes still have trouble inserting, I think due to its firmness. Are there any that are a bit more malleable?

Tunebeo · 05/11/2018 21:46

I like yuukicup - not only does it do what it's meant to but you can get them in a sort of tie dyed rainbow pattern! If I'm going to stick anything up there, it should at least look nice...

DonnaHaywood · 05/11/2018 21:48

@BibiThree I prefer the Diva cup to the Moon up, as it is softer and easier to insert.

I’m another mooncup fan. I have also tried a Lunette, but wasn’t so keen. I found it a bit tricky to take out.

I’ve just bought a few reusable pads to try them. I’ve gone with cheeky wipes. But I haven’t actually used them yet.

Allthatglittersisgold · 05/11/2018 21:51

I got a vida cup for 11 pounds to see if I could get used to it. Still using it, its so comfortable!

BibiThree · 05/11/2018 22:00

Thanks Donna

I just bought the one in Tesco's. No idea which brand. I think they are much of a muchness.

heartofgold · 05/11/2018 22:05

after 15 years sterling service my mooncup gave up the ghost and so far i'm getting on very well with a juju cup, which is more flexible and (more important) has a high cervix model that fits so much better.

softer cups need more attention paid to making sure they "snap" open in place, i think the stiffer ones are more reliable in this respect.

Londonlife85 · 05/11/2018 23:34

Thank you! I think i might try the diva cup or organic cup as ive googled and it apparently those are softer so easier to get out, is that right? I think i wohld wear a pag with them for a while to make sure theyre in place right. Its the removal of the moon cup that scares me the most!

I am coming to the end of this part of life but dd is nearly starting. I will stock up on period knickers but have been wondering about cups. At what age would you good people recommend starting them?

MarinetteDupainCheng · 06/11/2018 05:46

I have MeLuna cups and get on well with them. Never tried any other brand to compare. They have lots of different models, not just pre and post vaginal birth and age but also short and long cervix and various levels of flexibility in the cup. It can be a bit mind boggling trying to decide which to go for though!

HotInWinter · 06/11/2018 06:04

I decided against a mooncups, as cutting the stem bit concerned me.
I have a MeLuna. Pretty colours, and never had any issues with a ring stem - although they have a selection of stems, sizes and witnesses.

Monstamio · 06/11/2018 06:05

I recently started using a Rubycup. It's softer than a mooncup and for each one bought they donate one to a schoolgirl in Africa which I thought was a nice initiative.

Camsie30 · 06/11/2018 06:24

I found the mooncup too think, rent like the lunette, the silicone is much softer. Would never go back to tampons now, total game changer
