AIBU feeling annoyed for my 4yo

So dd 4th birthday party at weekend at local soft play, 12 4yo girls and the big bro 6yo of one od the girls.
Usual boisterous 6yo boy. But when we did the birthday cake he blew out the candles.
My dd looked crushed. I hastily lite a couple of candles so she could blow them out and said something like everyone liked your cake so much they wanted to help blow out your candles but she was obviously upset.
I did not say anything but AIBU to be annoyed on behalf of my daughter? All the mums were there and this kids mum did not notice.

What do you want to do about it? You can be annoyed but what's the point?

RiverTam · 05/11/2018 09:43

minor issue, yes annoying but move on and don't invite older siblings to your DD's parties in future. (and don't say 'usual boisterous 6yo boy either, that's not helpful).

Ooooh yes that would piss me off. Where was the mum while you were doing the cake?

But yes, nothing you can do about it now, it's just one those (really annoying!) things.

I had a child steal all of the hand made decorations off the cake and crush them up and so had a blob of a cake looked like it had been in an accident but what I have always stood by. You throw a party but they are not your children with non of your morals it's the risk you take although shit

Yes, 6 y.o. was annoying, he's Year 3, he knows not to blow out someone elses birthday candles on their cake!

Meh, what can you do? You dealt with it well at the time. I'd forget it.

If it's still bothering you, think next time whether it made it a bit harder inviting siblings (who are different age) next time. (Unless he was friend of an older DC of yours, invited to keep them company)

Whereismumhiding2 · 05/11/2018 12:33

Sorry, I meant Year 2 not year 3!

Yes, it is a bit annoying.
