I live in Maine winter is coming, that means snow and cold (-10)

So my cousin a police officer was called to a house. In the woodland behind the house a homeless person had set up there tent. The homeowner called the police to “feed them a bullet” as the homeless person wouldn’t survive winter.

I really don’t know what to make of that.

Even in Chicago where the police don't have the best reputation they aren't shooting homeless people and the winters are pretty cold as well. As long as your cousin didn't comply it sounds like someone spouting off while trying to get a problem sorted out. (Hopefully)

AjasLipstick · 05/11/2018 03:57

What? The homeowner wanted the cop to shoot the homeless person or to shoot the homeowner? I wouldn't take offence unless I WAS the homeless person.

I might avoid the person like the plague though.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 05/11/2018 07:34

Was it not just a turn of phrase, ie to get them to move rather than actually shoot them

Blanchedupetitpois · 05/11/2018 07:38

Bloody hell, that’s a powerfully horrible thing to say

SuchAToDo · 05/11/2018 07:41

The phrase is a bit offensive, but I hope the cops complied and got the homeless person in to a homeless shelter and in touch with the right services he/she needs to

  • help get back into work /or to help claim benefits if unable to.work,

  • Help them have a home of their own even if it's something like a rented room in a house share...

It's offensive how the phrased it, but it will be a blessing and life changing (for the better) thing for the homeless person of they suddenly have help to get back on their feet again

TheStoic · 05/11/2018 07:58

Jesus, what sort of person would say something like that??

Gaspodethetalkingdog · 05/11/2018 08:02

It’s the US they think differently over there, they did vote for Trump after all

RedneckStumpy · 05/11/2018 10:43

The guy had set up his tent on someone else’s land, bordering the garden of the guy who complained, so police didn’t have a reason to move him.

When they went to talk to the guy he wasn’t in the tent. They figured out his name from his belongings and discovered 3 days ago he was reported for threatening suicide.

They looked for him but no sign

Would you take offense?

Is this seriously a question in relation to what's being described?????
