To ask if you have ever converted your conservatory into a useable room?

Just thinking about options. We have a south facing garden and the conservatory is too hot in summer and too cold in winter. I’d love to turn it in to a dining room so I can turn the kitchen/diner into a good sized kitchen. Are those replacement roofs any good? And roughly how much are they? The room is about 3m x 3m

Shamelessly posting for traffic Blush

YANBU at all to ask IMO, as I’d like to know too. Smile

I got a quote for a 3x3 and it was 6k. However I have seen a local company who puts up that kingspan insulation then covers it either with plaster board (for a plastered ceiling) or the upvc white cladding and this seems to cost between £800-£1100, I think my dh could do this himself so we're gonna give it a go next year.

my dh is actually doing ours tomorrow, wood battens, insulated boards and plastic tongue and groove panels, less than £500 all in....will keep u posted how it goes

We did the same as the PPs.....space blanket, then insulation board then tongue and groove UPVC cladding. Cost less than £600 if I remember correctly.

It's still cold in there cos the walls are UPVC, no brick dwarf wall etc BUT we did find it made a difference in the summer. It was still hot (did get above 30c in there once or twice) but once the sun came off it mid afternoon/evening it did cool down quickly.

Check it is within permitted development first. It may be constructed as it it is because no more is allowable. I know ours is only there on sufferance, we're working on it Smile

Our conservatory is definitely an extra room, it is our dining room. As such we don't use it all the time so I don't keep it heated all the time, but it does have a storage heater in there and I have a little connector heater I can use as a booster or if we are using it without enough notice to put the storage heater on. It can get very hot in the summer but it has double doors and 3 large windows that open up completely so it is usable nearly all of the time. When it is too hot we would normally eat outside anyway. I love it.

CONVECTOR heater, not connector heater!
