Delivery driver just had a dump at my house!

AIBU? I've just had some furniture delivered and the first thing the guy said was, 'Can I use your loo?' I didn't want him to but felt that I couldn't refuse so I reluctantly said yes. He was in there for ages. He's had a smelly dump. It fucking stinks. I could have cried. He then bought the furniture in and I've just had to go and clean the toilet. I'm disgusted.

private house toilets are not for all and sundry to crap in.

He was delivering to her house and he asked. Hardly "all and sundry" which implies he just knocked on a random door.

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 17:29

MrMeSeeks. I’m coeliac and if I accidentally eat gluten it can cause a real issue. However, I have never once needed to use a strangers toilet.

I’ve never had a problem finding a public toilet to use either so they certainly do exist.

I also think there’s a big difference between someone working in your home I,e a tradesman, using your toilet and someone knocking on your door to deliver a parcel and asking to use it.

If for no other reason than security there’s not a chance that I would let them into my home and I think you’ll find the police would certainly not recommend it either.

DarlingNikita · 02/11/2018 17:30

I'd assume a request to use the loo was QUICK WEE ONLY, definitely not a poo

I suppose the only way to be confident about this is to make people fill in a form to indicate their intentions. Which would be fine. Not weird at all.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2018 17:31

YY a questionnaire would be wise. Get it in writing and signed so everyone knows the rules.

Abra1de · 02/11/2018 17:31

I clean up our grass verges and it’s not unusual to find dumped poo in plastic bags.

That’s really gross to clear up.

Tors33 · 02/11/2018 17:32

my partner used to do removals and the guy who he did it with would always ask the person who they was helping at the time to use the loo and it was always a number 2 it was like a ritual he had to have a poo in every house he went too I wonder if it was the same guy lol my partner don't work with him anymore

Haha!! This is thread is still going! I'm feeling calmer now and no I don't think I overreacted, dirty bugger stunk out my lovely fresh bathroom. Going forward, I think I'll have to say No to any delivery men ( tradesmen is different as they are actually working in my home) who request to use the loo..I live in a large town that has loads of pubs, cafes & petrol stations which I shall happily direct them to.

In as much as their shit is different and more acceptable if they spend a bit longer in your house? Confused

Gettingonwithlife · 02/11/2018 17:34

Disgusting and rude I would not be happy 😡

maddiemookins16mum · 02/11/2018 17:34

He was probably mortified too and was in there for so long hoping it would clear before he came out.

SoupDragon · 02/11/2018 17:35

Are you a delivery driver driving around suburbia on a tight schedule?

shamofamockery · 02/11/2018 17:36

OP you need to seriously calm down. He had a shit in your toilet. Not in your sink. Where else would you like him to shit? His van?

lynmilne65 · 02/11/2018 17:37

If you're caught short you're caught short, Nasty posters ☹️

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 17:38

Limensoda. Yes, it’s different because that tradesman is generally known to you in the sense that you have engaged them for the job and they are in your home for a prolonged period of time so clearly they may need to use the toilet during that time.

Someone out and about in public, even a delivery driver, is not known to me and could find a public toilet to use.

I definitely would not let someone into my home that I have no idea about. People need to stop worrying about appearing rude or unhelpful and be more concerned with their own personal safety.

And that’s advice that all police forces regularly give out to try and reduce these issues.

MsLexic · 02/11/2018 17:39

maybe he has a fetish though.... some people have... pooping in nice loos for pleasure.
(runs and hides)

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2018 17:39

Haha!! This is thread is still going!

Yes tradesmen using toilets in peoples houses for their intended use threads tend to run and run. Grin

Now with the blanket ban you are putting on delivery men using your facilities it will never happen again so that's good.

julygirl · 02/11/2018 17:40

For goodness sakes - get over it. Its such a first world complaint. There are so many more important things to be worried about. Use your energy for things that actually matter.

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 17:42

Soup dragon. No I’m someone with a condition that can clearly cause issues but I’ve learnt to manage it appropriately. If I ever need the toilet in an emergency I use a public one, there are enough around and I make sure when I’m visiting anywhere that I know where they are for that very reason.

WitsEnd2018 · 02/11/2018 17:43

Julygirl - why not take your own advice and get off of my 'first world problem' thread and put yourself to good use?

Ah, so there's a period of time someone has to be known to you before they can need a poo? Ok, fair enough Grin

I'm not sure that it's necessarily a good idea for delivery drivers to go around routinely with a box of matches in their pockets. It would be a tad unsafe when refilling fuel.

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 17:55

Limensoda. I’m assuming you’re being deliberately obtuse and misunderstanding my point? My issue isn’t just with someone using my home in a way that I might not be comfortable with, it’s also more importantly about my personal security (and that of my family).

I won’t let people I don’t know, who have just knocked on my door, to come into my home for any reason and I couldn’t care less if that makes me rude or unwelcoming. It’s common sense advice routinely issued by the police.

Thisreallyisafarce · 02/11/2018 17:58

dirty bugger stunk out my lovely fresh bathroom

You think your poo smells nice, don't you?
