To think that buying a vacuum cleaner is a minefield nowadays.

I need a new vacuum cleaner. It's a scary place out there- shark infested waters. Do I need a stick? Cordless? Where do I start?
No way do I want to pay £250 for a vacuum cleaner.

My last one was an upright Goblin from ASDA. cost me £40. Has given me 5 years of great cleaning.

Are there no "normal" vacuum cleaners out there any more?
Why have we had this explosion in the marketing department of suction cleaning?

Help!!

Thanks. What vacuum do you have?

Get a shark lift away

Cheap, reliable, very light, really easy with a good swivel head and it has little lights so you can see in to corners

My mind is in great preparation for my Dyson dying.
I will be taking a bag of important items to the showroom - where I WILL be insisting on a test drive.
The bag will contain :
Husky white hair
Rottweiler black hair
Black sock fluff
Cereal crumbs
Long human hair
And beans from an eternally leaking bean bag.

And the ads on the TV- why do the owners/inventors of these fancy vacuums want to star in their own ads?- most seem to have had a total personality bypass. Driven by the fawning of the advertising agency.

Do these guys even do any vacuuming at home themselves?

Either get a corded shark duoclean (with a black friday discount?) (i am pretty pleased with my new one, we have had to turn the suction down twice, it literally ate chunks out of some old underlay we had)

Or I didn’t mind the Vax cordless I got for about £89 but it only lasted a year.

EvaHarknessRose

But that's what I mean- I don't want to pay £250 for a vacuum.
My old Goblin was £40 and it worked like a dream for 5 years.

I use a Shark at work, it's like being on the Krypton Factor trying to reassemble it after using as a hand held on the stairs.

I've got a shark DuoClean, bought last year in the black Friday deal for £279. It is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned, worth every penny. It's a stick, cordless/handheld with loads of attachments. Two batteries. Once tried you won't complain about the price, I promise.

Shark shark shark!! I think whichever one I got was about £150 from Argos. I wouldn’t say that’s too much for a good vacuum. I guess it depends what you need. I have a mix of hard floors and carpets, and also pets so needed something that suits those criteria.

I second the vote for a Shark Liftaway! I’m not even being ironic when I say it’s changed my life ... I would actually do an advert for the damn thing, I love it so much (and no, I don’t work for them!) Grin

Mile cat and dog,got mine in a sale as otherwise they are expensive but worth it.

Another shark fan too! I've had mine 2 weeks. I'm in love!
It just makes my house look so bloody clean!

HopefullyAnonymous · 01/11/2018 18:21

Miele all the way!

My Henry is at least 8 years old and never had any issue with it. It's nothing fancy but I love it.
