To talk to me about your oil diffusers?

Thinking up my Xmas list and I'm obsessed with anything that makes the house smell nice. A good oil diffuser has been on my list for a while but I've no idea where to start with one.

Does anyone have one? Which would you recommend? Can you buy lots of different smelling oils? Does the smell reach to lots of rooms?

Sorry for the boring thread!

I get my oils from here. You could get some oils and put them on a cotton wool pad near a radiator to try them, before committing to a diffuser.

I went into a boutique the other day and nearly fell over myself when I smelled these.

Really lovely! As I can't afford the full price I'm just going to get a bottle of the refill and cheapie sticks/burner from somewhere else.

I don't find Reed diffusers very effective. The cotton wool ball behind the radiator works, I Chuck a couple in my hoover bag too. I mainly use Yankee plug ins, candles or wax tart warmers add the scent spreads further around the house

I have thisamazon.co.uk/Essential-Humidifiers-Ultrasonic-Aromatherapy-Automatically-x/dp/B06XRS5FLW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1540904182&sr=8-3&keywords=aromatherpay+diffuser]]

You just add water and essential oils and you're good to go. It makes the whole house smell amazing

Mine are the original ceramic oil burners, night light in the bottom and oil and water in the top, you just have to ensure you don't let it burn dry.

I use only pure essential oils and am careful of allergies, used it originally for treatment purposes rather than for the smell as I have a full set of pure essential oils.

I can use the oils with no problems, but am unable to use the reeds or non-genuine oils/bottles of perfumed stuff as the ingredients in them make me ill, headache and nausea. My oils originally were from Tisserand and Neals Yard but now buy lavender ones from lavender farms, has to be pure essential oil though as all kinds of stuff is added to the other types. The good stuff costs more but has a better fragrance with no additives.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 30/10/2018 13:40

By the way, please check what is in stuff before you let it loose in your house and nasal passages, some of the smelly things are toxic, especially reeds which have been known to give pets skin problems and loss of fur. Imagine what they do to your lungs.

I have an Amazon one but novelty has worn off.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 30/10/2018 14:54

I have one that looks like a vase with holes in, when its switched on it becomes a colour changing lamp diffusing oil. as a pp says, the novelty soon wears off Smile

Bumbledop · 30/10/2018 16:18

I have one by Morris and Co which has lasted and lasted and smells lovely.

whatnametouse · 30/10/2018 16:28

I have the electric ones you put essential oils in - like everyone else the novelty wears off

If you want to put things near a radiator you get terracotta/ ceramic disks that you can put oil on - it soaks in then diffuses

I also have the tassel diffusers from origins - they did them for the Christmas tree as well but seem to have stopped and now it’s just the large ones
