to want to test my Alexa's hearing?

She seems to have gone deaf... Confused

I've been setting timers on and off all day, but the most recent one has just taken about three activations and eventually turning off at the wall to stop! My poor neighbours have been hearing "Alexa, STOP! PAUSE! OFF!" all day! Funny enough, whenever I set a timer she co-operates... any ideas on why she goes deaf when I try to turn it off?

She is struggling to hear you over her own noise. We have Alexa plugged into a separate speaker and by moving the speaker away from Alexa we improved her ability to hear us over whatever she's doing. If you're not using an external speaker you might need to move her somewhere she can hear you better.

Okay thank you malmi

My Alexa is a bitch, she always ignores me.

fruitshot · 29/10/2018 14:10

My Alexa has also gone deaf. I feel like all I do is shout at her recently, and she's become really pig headed as well.

We've just had the latest release dot. It appears to be deaf too.
We set it up to answer to computer so we could pretend we were on the Enterprise, but it rarely responds to my request of; tea. Earl grey. Hot.

Mookatron · 29/10/2018 14:15

uh-oh... the first step is ignoring you, the next is deliberately doing little irritating things... next thing you know we're all slaves to our uber-lord toasters

@yawning801

"She seems to have gone deaf..."

Please allow me to share the same wisdom my Mother shared with me after I gave birth. She said to test my daughter's hearing by dropping a hardcover book on a hard floor next to her, if she jumps then her hearing is fine. 😂😂😂😐

LTD! (lose the device).

Just kidding. If I have Alexa playing the radio I sometimes have to turn down the volume before she can understand what I'm saying. Try using it in a completely quiet room and see what happens.

If it's really gone bad contact amazon and they'll replace it.

Why has she decided to shuffle songs too?
She is so sassy and only plays obscure songs from popular artists.
DS says l should use my phone app- l may just have to do that, and start ignoring her altogether! Grin

SpoonBlender · 29/10/2018 14:23

Huh. Mine (tube, not dot) can hear an "alexa stop" from the next room at normal speaking voice while she's playing music/radio. I'd like to be able to turn down the sensitivity! I don't use her for timers much though, maybe the alarm for that is more tricky to hear through.

NeverHadANickname · 29/10/2018 14:32

Mine ignores me when my other half is in the house, think she has the hots for him. The other day though I said 'Alexa, home' and it did a search for porn 🤣 that was very random.

3boysandabump · 29/10/2018 14:45

I'm assuming my Alexa took her cue from my dc and discovered nobody takes a blind bit of notice what I say so she's followed suit
