Effing bloody Cat poo!!!

Our driveway is quite small and fits one car and we have our refuse and recycling bins on one side.

There are about 4 cars that live in our cul-de-sac and for some reason they love depositing their smelly shite all over our driveway. Which stinks to high heaven!!!

Also have to be careful we don't step in it and have to keep an eye on my 4 yo ds who goes running about without looking.

What the hell can I try to stop these cats crapping in our driveway??

I have tried spraying cat repellent which doesn't work.

Sorry...that's meant to say "there are about 4 cats living on our street'

Are you sure it's not foxes? If it was foxes, supposedly man pee round the boundaries keeps them away.

MrsStrowman · 29/10/2018 10:59

It's highly unlikely it's cats as they tend to dig around it or bury it, admittedly badly. We were having this exact problem turned out it was a fox DH caught it in the act. We just chased it off everytime we saw it, whereas before we'd ignore it mooching around. It still happens occasionally but nowhere near as much. Apparently male human urine gets rid but I didn't want DH weeing all over the drive

longwayoff · 29/10/2018 11:04

Agree will be foxes. In my experience nothing keeps them away, only moving the bins elsewhere is likely to help. Can you build a bin shed?

SoupDragon · 29/10/2018 11:05

It doesn't have to be applied directly from the source 😂

awesmum · 29/10/2018 11:41

Get one of those cat repeller alarms.

pottypotamus · 29/10/2018 11:42

The cats all hang around in the cul-de-sac all the time. Would foxes still come along if cats and people were around constantly?

I can take a picture of the most recent present if it won't offend anyone?

@awesmum
Do these work? I guess I could get a pot plant and stick one these in.

And if it was foxes, would this alarm work for them?

If you google 'fox spraint' and 'hedgehog spraint', they tend to be black and pointed at one end, with a strong odour.
Cat shit tends to stink of cat food.

Furrydogmum · 29/10/2018 11:47

Our 2 cats poo on our garden and don't cover it - sends my dh around the twist! We put citrus peel down which seems to work when fresh..

awesmum · 29/10/2018 11:57

Yes they do work, it may irritate any kids though.

SoupDragon · 29/10/2018 12:02

Yes. And their poo absolutely reeks as does their urine.

KarenStocksdale · 29/10/2018 12:13

Bust out the AK-47, though a shovel does the trick nicely Smile

ThisIsTheNational · 29/10/2018 12:15

Agree with other upthread. Much more likely to be a fox. The rank buggers will do it everywhere. Cats always prefer to be discrete (in their minds anyway) and tuck it away somewhere - usually in a flower bed, or in my case in the herb patch.

Furrydogmum · 29/10/2018 12:24

Lol! Wish ours were discrete - they hunker down and stare at us while they perform 😆

longwayoff · 29/10/2018 12:34

Whats happening in cat world? Are parent cats not teaching their kittens to poo properly? Never had a cat who'd willingly leave poo uncovered

longwayoff · 29/10/2018 12:36

Have had a cat who stared out a cautiously approaching fox and gave him a hefty swipe to the jaw when he ventured too close. Maybe you need resident cat Wink

pottypotamus · 29/10/2018 13:00

I've caught cats in between our bins because it's dark and quiet.

I googled fox poo and this is definitely 100% cat poo. I'll post a pic when I get back home.
There are dead leaves that have fallen from nearby trees that line the edge of our driveway. Maybe this is an attractive shitting area for the cats.
