I'm so nervous please tell me how not fuck up tomorrow!

Start my new job tomorrow, and I'm so so nervous.

It doesn't help that I need to be ready to go and start at 8am, so in order to get changed etc I need to leave the house at 6.30 because apparently the 25 minute drive takes at least 55 minutes if I leave at 7!

How can I make sure I don't fuck it all up? I want to make a good impression but at the same time I don't want to look like I know everything because I don't. I've never worked in this area before.

Good luck! Just smile a lot! Helps you feel less nervous, and people will be friendlier towards you and more willing to help you settle in xx

SillyMoomin · 29/10/2018 06:44

🤦🏽‍♀️ Am I the only person who read the first, ooooh, good half of this thinking, my goodness, I didn’t realise there were so many rules about staff wearing their own shoes in the theatre... I’m sure every time I’ve been to see a play staff we’re just wearing black ballet shoes or booots or whatever Grin

Sorry op. Now realise you’re talking about medical theatres! Good luck, hope it goes well for you!

flumpybear · 29/10/2018 06:54

You must be be en route by now, but good luck! And enjoy your new job

NewYoiker · 29/10/2018 07:20

SillyMoomin I too was thinking at first that OP was embarking on a role as a stage hand or similar Blush. Good luck OP!

I worked in theatres for a while and was provided with clogs on my first day.
There was a staff room with a fridge for lunches, a water cooler and tea and coffee provided.
A sandwich trolley came round at lunchtime, but that wouldn't coincide with everyone's lunches.
We weren't allowed to leave the hospital grounds with scrubs on, but could use the shop and canteen provided we put a coat/ cardi on.

Break a leg !

(Yeah I know it’s a different kinda theatre 😉)

CoolCarrie · 29/10/2018 09:02

Good luck for today!

yousimplyhavetobethesedays · 29/10/2018 09:26

Oh. Thank goodness, I was so confused about why you would have to leave things on the floor and not touch anything blue etc then realised you weren't working in the wings of a show theatre!!!

Bubblysqueak · 29/10/2018 18:56

Hope today went well. Flowers

NewYoiker · 29/10/2018 19:22
