To call 101 about the noise of a stationed train carriage at the end of my street

At the end of my street (100 metres) there is a train station which is 1 station away from a main destination from train station.

For the past 45 minutes a carriage has been stationed there. The lights are on, it has its (loud) engine running and, for the past 45 minutes, has been emitting a high pitched continuous bleating noise.

It is beginning to drive me nuts.

The lettering and numbers on the carriage are GBRF 66742. It's been parked up several times before but has never made this continuous noise before.

I have googled the next station for a telephone number but only the main network number is online. I called that but it closed at 10pm until 7am tomorrow.

Now thinking of calling 101 to try and see if that will get it to shut up!!!!

Why the hell is it still going on at this time of night??? It's going right through me Sad

AIBU to call???

Its coz its a diesel, it probably is doing it just to wind you up. If Thomas taught us anything its that diesels are arses.

AviatorShades · 28/10/2018 00:01

I'm so sorry but you lost me at 'now it's started tooting' . The only sound round here atm is me laughing uncontrollably at thatGrinGrinGrin
Anyway, hope that it shuts up soon,OP.

That's what happens when you live near a rail station.

Move, if it bothers you that much.

BreconBeBuggered · 28/10/2018 00:07

I'm overwhelmed by the sympathy for the OP here. I lived near 2 different railway lines for 10 years and never had anything like this,

But yeah, bastard diesel troublemakers. Little shits. Read your Thomas.

CoughLaughFart · 28/10/2018 00:07

The police should absolutely be involved. Murder, rape, assault - these all pale into insignificance compared to some noise coming from a train. Skip 101 and go straight to 999.

Move, if it bothers you that much

Never change, Mumsnet. Never change

Obviouslynotobvious · 28/10/2018 00:09

101? Bloody hell.

cheesemongery · 28/10/2018 00:23

Evil Diesel...

It must be nearly 20 years ago when I sat with my son thinking - is that Alec Baldwin?

Fuck off Thomas said Percy. Gordon laughed.

AlexaAmbidextra · 28/10/2018 00:41

Move, if it bothers you that much.

There’s always one. So original. 🙄

AnnieAnoniMouse · 28/10/2018 00:41

Has it stooooooopped yet?

jadedragon · 28/10/2018 06:55

Sorry to leave you all hanging!

It stopped, my husband came home from work, I regaled him with the torture I had been through and he was very sympathetic. Not. His face was permanently like this Hmm

Then we watched x factor.

My 2 year old is wearing his Thomas onesie this morning. I'm so glad I don't have to tell my kids that Thomas died.

My DS would have been glued to the window watching it. Then he would have told me all about what type of train it was. Then he would have told me some bullshit story about a crash it had once been in based on one of the stories out of his book of train wrecks (yep, that’s what every 7 year old picks out at the second-hand book stall...)

Then you’d have had to make approving noises over 2847372 drawings of said train for the next year. I mean, it’s nice he has an interest, but...

jadedragon · 28/10/2018 07:30

@TheFifthKey That sounds painful...
